ok so i got my old motor out and im a little stuck trying to figure out the motor brackets. the only thing that is holding me back. does anyone have any ideas or know if the 240sk motor brackets for an rb conversion would work for my 87 300zx. or does anyone have any blue prints of the engine brackets for this swap?

I believe the rb20 mounts will work but you need the crossmsmber to go with it Ibeleive, here is a gey that used the rb25 mounts and made some pretty simple mods to the N/A crossmsmber to accept the rb mountshttp://forums.nicoclub.com/zer...age=1

I dont know if you read my swap... But it was really east to make the mounts the way I did them. It was a simple plate with one hole for the engine isolaters.

If I were to do it again, I would make the engine brackets, instead of modifying the factory n/a crossmember. It would look a lot cleaner, that is the only reason though.

From what I know the only interchange for the rb into a Z31 is the 200zr crossmember, I dont beleive that the 240sx crossmember will work, or the engine isolators. The skyline crossmember will not work in a Z31 also. I had one, I tried but the suspension geometry was completely different.

Is the rb25det that much better than a Z31 engine? isn't it smaller and more expensive than building up a Z31 turbo engine?

Just depends on what you want... me personally, I like the VG a lot better. Its inexpensive, strong, easy to modify, relatively cheap to modify, tons of them available, compact, relatively light weight for an iron block V6, already comes stock in the Z31... tons of reasons.

The RB25 isn't a bad engine and can definitely make some power but will likely cost you quite a bit more to reach a certain power goal over the VG and your power will be in a higher RPM range compared to the VG. Like I said... just depends on what you want.

I saw Jason run his RB25 Z at Branson Z Fest and it moves pretty good and sounds great... should be real fast when he does his other RB engine setup...

You should download and install Firefox and make your posts using that browser. Then, you would at least appear smart enough to spell. And that may translate to you being smart enough to accomplish this swap.

I'm locking this to keep it from spiraling out of control, I don't forsee it going in any positive direction
