Not new to the forum but this is my first post so here goes. I have a 90' 240sx with a freshly swapped rb25det (installed by a friend and I around 2 months ago). About a month ago I pulled the timing cover to look at the timing belt. I put the cover back on and adjusted the timing a bit and from that day on it seems like the motor has been putting out extremely fine metal shavings coming from inside the timing cover. Anyone experienced this before? Any idea what it could be?

check the back side of your cam angle sensor, check your timing belt idler and tensioner pulleys as well. those should be the 3 immediate items to suspect.

I'm putting my money on the cam bolts interfering with the back of the CAS. Simple fix is to add a washer between the CAS and timing cover.

Instead of washers you can use the gasket that sits in the upper cover. You can pull it off with no problems.

I always got a bit worried when I was using the spacers that I would drop into the lower cover while r/r the cas.
