i've got a rb25det and on the colsult i can see the voltage is reading 5v all the time, even when the motor is not running. the second i unplug the maf it drops to 0volts. the maf was reading correctly yesterday. today it's reading 5 volt when it is pluged in. i've checked the connections and the plug to see if there is a short but the wiring checks out ok. is my maf bad? is there a test i can do to check if the maf is good?

sounds like the maf is bad. ecu supplies 5 volt to maf and signal responds with signal varing from 0-5 volt depending on air flow. find a wiring diagram and see if source volt on maf shorted o has very low resistance between signal pin. if you have a type 2 i have an extra maf that i could sell you.

A 3.0 liter MAF might get you by if you don't get into boost to much maybe one from a 300zxtt would be better.

Unfortunately the equation Air flow = voltage has a ^3.5 exponent the 20% difference in displacemnt might make you 20% leaner at idle and WOT at cruise O2 should be able to compensate ......maybe?

Until you get the correct unit from Japan!
