RB25det is an alternator belt eater, and voltage drops at idle. Ideas?

Well, I thought I had the problem ironed out. The problem is that my RB eats alternator belts like theres no tomorrow. They usually last a month or so before they squeal so bad that I want to slam into a tree.

It seems as if I have too much current draw for the system. My voltage drops quickly if I idle at a stoplight for more than a minute or so. Its obviously way worse when the headlights/heater are on, bad enough where I turn the blower off at stoplights.

I am not running an electric fan right now, and honestly don't think Im using too much current. My battery is an SVR thats located in the trunk. I have 0ga run to it, and 4ga on ground that is bolted to the chassis every three feet or so.

Any thoughts here? does anyone else have issues with voltage dropping when sitting at idle? It seems as if this thing just does not make enough current at idle to sustain everything. Its actually an RB20 alternator, but my rb25 one was doing the same thing.

Thanks guys - Evan

Have you tested your alternator? Take your car to like Autozone or a place where they can test your alternator and battery for free. What's the amps on the RB20 alternator? The RB25 is 90amp. I had the regulator changed out on mine and that solved the problem.
