I've been reading about this swap for a while now and looking into everything that needs to be done. If I buy an RB25DET motorset, Syko Mount kit/Driveshaft, what else will i abosolutely need?

I know the belt driven fan won't fit with ka24 mounts, but will it fit with the syko kit?

Syko site says, "Works with any SR20DET downpipe (not included) for a true bolt on fitment" so do i simply need to buy an sr20det downpipe? (ie. cheap ebay one)

I have never bought a motorset before. Most people go directly to adding a FMIC, but do motorsets ever come with the stock SMIC?

Is there anything else I am missing for this swap? I understand I should buy a new fuel pump, FMIC, radiator, but is this all i NEED to get things running?

I apologize if this is a repeat post. I have seen lots of information but not much on what is needed with specifically the syko mount kit.

Thank you for your time,

Bryce

1. Don't think the clutch fan is gonna work. You're barely gonna have any clearance between your radiator and the front of the motor. 2. I've seen SMIC come included with motorsets, but my .02 just get a FMIC while you got the whole thing apart. 3. SR downpipe will need the turbo flange cut and rotated ~90* to make it fit.

I've never had experience with the syko kit... but if its like all the others, then thats all relavant.

The syko mounts move the motor back an inch or two that's why I was wondering.

I wish I could spend $500-$700 on a fmic right off the bat

So If I buy the syko kit, driveshaft, and an electric fan, I'll be good to go (minus maybe some heater hoses or cheap stuff like that)?

Thanks for the input

i bought the syko mount kit for my neo rb25. dont forget the kit utilizes the R33 crossmember so your gonna need to source one of those.

ur gonna need some type of pusher/puller fan setup fal's

yes you simply buy a sr20 dp, it will work i bought mine of ebay and you dont need to custom fab it it bolts right up no problems, just like syko says ....

just buy a fmic kit

u need to search more man i found all my info for my swap pretty easy and i hope u have someone to help you with it, souhnds like your gonna need it

i agree with lee. mckinney is definitely the way to go. peice of cake to mount.

as for the fmic, check out cxracing.com and get a universal kit. i wouldn't trust them with a turbo or mani but there intercoolers and radiators are great. i have both and i love them. i know several others that have them also. nice thick aluminum piping.

do not buy syko motor mounts. Niconauts that bought from that shop had to wait quite some time to get their product or didn't receive it at all.

Buy whatever mount kit you want... I bought Top Hat and everyone here dogs on them but they work awesome... i just welded it to the subframe.

also there is no cutting needed to bolt on the sr20 DP it bolts right up, i run that elbow and it work perfect!

You will need a push or pull fan set the clutch one wont work it does not fit.

The FMIC is alot cheaper then you thing. I know syko offers a bolt in fmic pipe kit... i have it... and its awesome! Then all you need is the fmic and they are cheap on ebay.

Good luck man. dont skimp out, but the proper parts now and you wont pay in the end.

i purchased the syko kit w/ driveshaft thru phase2motortrend.com. i received it within a week or so from them. so far, i haven't had any problems with the kit. it was very easy to install and drop the motor in. it sits the motor perfectly in the car. i also have yet to drive the car too so i'm not sure how they perform under a load and whatnot. so we'll see when that day comes in the next couple weeks or so.

you'll also want a different radiator and some fans, probably flex-a-lites. don't use the s13 rad because i've heard that its too weak to handle the pressure of an rb. (i've never experienced this, just heard from other people about it) so i have an s14 rad that will work. if you get an aftermarket one like koyo or something, you'll prolly have to notch out the rad support and stuff.

as for the intercooler kit, i went to rb-performance.net....they have a specific intercooler kit thats a direct bolt on for the rb25 in an s13. it has the hot and cold pipes on the same side to accomodate the stock intake manifold. and its only like 300 for the full kit. thats what i'm using on mine until i can afford to get a new intake mani, which then, i'll get a new intercooler and piping. it was kind of a pain in the a** trying to get ahold of this guy for the intercooler and the shipping for it, but he took some money off of the purchase, so it wasn't too bad. heres the link for the kit.

http://www.rb-performance.net/....aspx

just like mrose7716 said...if you get the syko kit, make sure you get the R33 crossmember. also make sure you get either the R33 transmission crossmember OR an automatic 240 transmission crossmember. the manual transmission one will not work with it. the syko kit comes with transmission relocation brackets that use the r33 or the auto 240 transmission crossmembers.

also keep in mind that you'll have to get the wiring harness done too. i don't know how good you are with wiring and electrical stuff. if you aren't that great at it, i would suggest sending it out to somebody that knows exactly what they are doing.

heres a little list off the top of my head for what i had to get for my swap becides the motorset:

syko mount kitsyko driveshaftR33 crossmember and transmission crossmemberS14 RadiatorSamco coolant hosesFAL dual puller fansSR20 downpipe (i went with megan racing)Test pipeCatback exhaust (i got apexi gt spec)FMIC (from rb-performance.net)wiring harness conversion

thats just off the top of my head to get it in the car and running. you'll also want to look at doing other maintenance type stuff like:

timing beltidler pulleytensioner pulleynew hoses and vacuum linesspark plugsgaskets (if you wanna pull the motor apart)thermostatnew clutch

and also any other little stuff you might run into during the swap.

not trying to push you away from this swap or anything. you just gotta know what you'll be getting yourself into and how much money will be spent on it.

good luck with it. just like nissan2367 said....don't skimp out. do everything right now, so you won't pay for it later.

Thanks guys.

I think I'm going to go with the sr20det for balance and budget. I just thought it would be nice to own a car with a little torque for once, but o well, inline 4s 4life.

Thanks again.
