i have a wrecked 92 240sx se with an s2 rb25det swap. i had to buy an 89 base model coupe because some d bag in a civic cut me off and i crashed. my question is what are the major difference between the harness is in the 89 as opposed to the 92 and also what the difference in the power steering systems is. i just remeber reading that the 89-90 s13's are different from the 91-94's. will everything just bolt on from one car to the other? thanks

on the 89-90 S13, the ps is setup for the pump to be on the intake side. you can just move all your ps lines and stuff from the car it is in now. they are a direct swap between the s13 chassis.

are the wire harnesses the same though? the 92 has a digital display with hud and the 89 has a regular cluster.

its not a direct swap you need to convert your sohc plug to a dohc plug.. do a seach for dual cam swaps and you should find it..

I just finished doing this exact thing recently. I had a 92 red hatch swap I did several years ago and I moved everything over to an 89 black coupe. I will be posting pics soon.

Anyway:Move your power steering reservoir and lines over which I think is a total of less than 10 bolts. The ones holding the lines to the front crossmember are a little tricky and you will need an open end wrench and patience.

As far as wiring:I had the unpleasant experience of also converting the 89 coupe from an automatic to a manual, but I will save you the details on that part.So for you the only plug you need to change is the one on your engine harness that connects to the dash harness. It is either a white or brown plug. Just cut it off and and replace it with the one from the sohc. I found threads like the one below to find out what wires went where when going from SOHC to DOHC and then just used that to do the opposite. zerothread/162443Unless you have a tach adapter of some sort you will probably want to swap your digital dash with your old one. Everything should work the same as it did before.

have fun
