I dont think I would trust stock pistons for 500HP. I think they would be good at 400. If you decide to try 500 make sure you have a very good tune.
A smooth motor is a fast motor.
To reach 500 safely my opinion: You need a good set of race bearings, forged pistons, 500+CC injectors, ECU, A decent size turbo. I wouldnt go too big or else your creating more bad than good. Lots of LAG!!!! Cometic Head gasket, Good intake & throttle body combo, Turbo manifold, ext wastegate, z32 MAF, Then your getting into machine work because your not going to find pistons that are std. So now your looking at block bored, I recommend balancing the assembly, You will be extremely satisfied on how smooth it runs through RPM's, Cleaned, Clearances all checked, including rods and mains, More than likely it will need the Deck cleaned up for a good head gasket seal, So honestly your looking at a good 1000-2000 in machine work. Then your looking into a good clutch to hold the power, I like Cusco Exedy myself, Never had a problem. So in simple terms Unless you have 10,000 to spend I wouldnt attempt 500HP Do it right the first time if your going to build it.
Now you can make a good 400 with just a simple turbo, injector, ECU, Head-gasket upgrade. Internals will safely run that.
