Any one here have the capability to write chips for the rb25det ecu. The hitachi 82pin chip.

i believe 25 ecu's need to be resocketed before you can reprogram one.

I still don't understand why chipping or even buying a standalone unit for these rb's are so damn expensive, I have more in electronics than I have in building the entire motor. Its ridiculous!!!!

and at that point you should just get a PFC and be done.

chipping a 25 is pointless.

power fc's are so ridiculous in price its maddening. I've been searching for a nice used one but they cost almost as much as a new one...geez why they gotta stop producing them.

Saw a used one on ebay last week but it sky rocketed higher than the price of a new one.

Ya you pretty much have to save up for a year to buy a PFC, If you go to http://www.xs-engineering.com/...=8219They have the power FC for the Rb25 for 980$ brand new. The cheapest I have found them.

But its not just the electronics thats ridiculous for the RB its all the parts, Hell I paid more for a set of forged pistons than I paid for my 383 stroker kit for my Trans am, and thats crank pistons and rods all together. I guess thats why this engine is so rare, You practically have to be rich to build the dang things!!!!

Mine is already socketed I just need to find some one who has the hardwear and softwear to burn new chips for future use.

That processor can only be programmed one time unfortunately. The hardware to make the R33 RB25 ECU tunable multiple times with a burner or using an emulator, is very difficult to install and hard to get. The boards are very successful when used with NRE or ROM edit and since those programs are free you can tune yourself or have a reputable tuner do it for you. The price of $800 which includes a tune and $600 installed without a tune provides a less expensive option for someone who is unable to get a PFC, or spend the money to get the PFC tuned properly with software only available from a licensed dealer.

Expensive? YES but it is a less expensive yet very effective option to a PFC. You can go to Import Intelligence's (NICO Sponsor) myspace page who built an RB25 powered nissan hardbody pickup. It is running a GT35R, Z32, and 750cc inj. @ 10psi with more boost coming. The are running a modified RB25det ECU.

The best part about using the stock ECU is the ease of setup, it cold starts first crank, idles clean and keeps all factory drivability. It is also making great power for 10psi.

I explored the option of tuning the stock rb25 computer but unfortunately the rom data is stored on the processor. to tune it as mentioned about costs more than its worth.

Im currently using a 300zx ecu on my rb25, all that is required is to repin a couple wires and you are good to go.

I'm using an Rb20 ecu, no wiring mods required. But there is no provision for the variable cam timing.

+3 for the Z32 ecu then add Nistune board for realtime tuning and your done.
