hey guys I'm almost done with my swap.....I'm a little disgusted. It started as a small project and has spiraled out of control. I started with a rb25det motor and an idea of just swapping it in and doing bolt ons but then decided i know i'll want more..? So decided to fully build the motor, fuel system, electrical, chassis etc. while its down might as well do it right. Yeah ok so now i'm almost broke but every aspect of the car has been touched. I feel like an idiot for spending so much over the last year. And have been thinking of selling the car upon completion just wondering what you guys think it would go for or if i should just keep it and enjoy it when i can because we all know getting it to pass emissions is just another wet dream.... Sorry for the novel let me hear your opinions

Damn, the motor looks sick. I can see a lot of $$$ just in the one photo you posted. As for how much you think you'll be able to get for the whole car once it's completed, there's a wide-body RB25-swapped s13 coupe on Craigslist Boston that's listed for 10Gs and he STILL can't sell it. He started out at $18,000 about 2 months ago and has slowly been lowering the price as he gets more desperate to sell it. He probably spent more than he'll get out of it at this point.

Look, no one messes with 240sx's with the intention/hope of getting the amount of $$ they put into them back out when it's time to sell. I've probably got $10G in my hatch and it still needs a lot of cosmetics. By the time I'm done, I'll probably be into it for about $16-17G and I could probably get 9-10G for it if I wanted to sell.

From the pic, it looks like you have good tastes when it comes to upgrades. My advice is to hold onto the car and just enjoy it! BTW, I'd love to check it out when it's finished. I'm in the Boston area too.

well i'm not really comfortable posting how much i've got into it but i know chances of every getting what i put into it are slim to none, but don't judge a book by its cover(motor is completley rebuilt, from top to bottom), that was never my intention, but i'm guessing your car is registered and insured in florida, which makes your life alot easier than mine.....My main problem with keeping the car is having to get a truck and trailer to enjoy my investment, Mass blows....any how we'll have to get together once i'm done. should be running end of september we'll see.... thanx for your in put

"Do it once do it right" = fail in a low budget car. You're not going to get the same amount you put into the car. Just install it and enjoy it for a while then sell it.

+1 agreed. This goes for any modified car. It just sucks for us 240 owners since our shells are a dime a dozen unless your rocking a kouki. Enjoy it, you might actually get more if you parted it out.. just takes longer to find all the buyers.

Yeah, you'll never get your $ back. Hell, if your like me, spent over $25K on a S13 you bought for $100, you'll be lucky to get half back.

DUDE, do not sell it upon completion. I know exactly how you feel about money and time.... It will melt away like it never existed once you get to drive it. Once its tuned and once it is running near perfect and broken in. You will be so happy. So many people dont have the balls to go through with the high amount of work they've done. The amount of energy is never self appreciated. GO OUT THERE AND FINISH IT! GO BEAT SOME Vettes and Supras! I do!

first off I know exactly how you fell.

After blowing up my SR and buying all the parts to rebuild it, and waiting a total of like 4months for bearings (note this was back in the day) I gave up and sold everything off to just get out of it.

In the midst of doing all that I got my hands on a RB25 front clip which I always wanted a RB because at the time it was considered a major defeat (even to this day it comes up). Thought I would just swap it in and get on my way... not at all. I ended up pulling the motor apart 3 times due to me wanted to go back and do everything. I have now bought almost all my parts for my rebuild and getting ready to assemble. I have went through 3 chassis' since I got the motor 2 years ago, changed my mind about selling or keeping it on a monthly basis, and now have most of my major rebuild parts up for sale.

I 100% regert ever selling off my SR and scraping that project, and I am afraid to do the same with the RB. Don't scrap it, swap it, run it, enjoy it. Thats all thats to it.

IF NOT, please toss me an email on how much you would like to get rid of your turbo manifold for (it looks to be a FULL-RACE manifold)

Good luck, because in the end we all smile at butterflies

I didn't mean to offend you or come off as though I was judging you! That's just my nature, I'm a very frank person...As for not being able to enjoy your investment thoroughly, I know exactly how you feel. Yes, my car is registered in Florida so I can avoid Mass inspection, insurance, and BS with the cops. What you may not know, however, is that the car IS STILL IN FLORIDA and I'm only able to enjoy it about 3 times a year, LOL! I just don't want to risk bringing it up here to MA and having it either stolen, broken into, or impounded. I've got about $1000 of Defi gauges just sitting in plain view alone. That **** wouldn't last 10 mins in my neighborhood in Boston.

I'll be finishing up my time here in Boston in about 2 years (I'm a resident at Brigham and Women's Hospital, btw) and I'll be heading back down to Miami so I can finally drive my car the way I've always wanted.

I'd love to see your car once it's running so keep me in mind once its on the road. Where are you going to tune it? The only places I know around here that I've personally checked out are T3 Motorsports in Hyde Park, MA (I wouldn't trust them to do an oil change, much less tune a 2.8L RB) and Dent Sport Garage in Norwood, MA (top notch guys though their RB knowledge is a bit limited.)
