I have ordered a RB25 front clip and just like so many others of you an waiting for it to arrive. Now I want to put an aftermarket clutch on it while I have the engine out and was having a hard time figureing out which one to go with. I know that I dont want to put a pucked clutch on there because I drive on a lot of hills and want to still have the same kind of feel as a stock clutch even if it is a little stiffer. So I sent http://www.coximport.com an email and asked which clutch to go with and he said Exedy 06-801a so I looked that up on his site http://www.coximport.com/store/06-801A and it said that it would fit all kinds of cars. This clutch made since to me because night said that the na 300zx clutch works in the rb25. My next move was to look at ebay and I saw clutchcity is selling http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...11889 which appeared to be the same clutch. I was wondering if anyone has used this clutch and what they thought of it? Also if anyone knows what kind of improvement over factory this one has if any and what kind of hp this clutch will hold?ThanksJohn

Oh yeah, I forgot to ask if anyone who has done the swap that replaced the clutch used the 83-89 n/a 300zx or if they used the 90-96 n/a 300zx clutch. Also the clamping load on the 06-801 is 915 kg (2017 lbs) so does anyone know what that equates to in terms of what kind of HP it will hold up to. I have been told that at that point it is not important because the wheels will slip before the clutch.

if you had the clamping load, the friction coefficient, and the geometric shape of the disc and friction plate, we could calculate how much it holds

Friend of mine used the mid 90's 300ZX flywheel and clutch assy. I was not there to help with the install. But it worked with a RB20DET and the bell housing should be the same size. I'll verify with a buddy of mine and get back to you.

Coximports lists the Exedy clutches for RB25's as fitting a 225mm flywheel, but yet the 300zx NA flywheel is 240mm. Perhaps Exedy supplies their own flywheel that is 225mm with the clutch kit...I'm just confused as to whether or not the 300zx NA clutch fits the stock RB25 flywheel. Also, is a new throwout bearing always necessary? Clutches confuse me :(
