Hey everyone i just joined the fourm today and picked up a 95 240 with an rb25det a month ago. I just installed the N1 water pump and put on the 90mm throttle body to the greddy plenum that came with the car.. The TPS senor would not fit so i spliced the wires according to a topic posted on this site that explained what color wires go to what.... Start it up RMPs are at 4000 climbing steadly to 5000. took the TPS off the body, started it up again and tried moving the TPS with a screw driver and no response... connected the TPS off the stock body and got some response but as i moved the TPS the revs dont move up according to the amount i move it with my finger... there is a "spot" when you move the TPS that will drop the idol, but the spot is roughly where the TPS would be reading 1/4 throttle... and if you move the TPS to where idol is the revs get out of hand again..

First step was i did some research and took out the cold idol spring, helped ALOT! Brought the RPM's down at least 1500.

RMP's now are at 3000 when crazy and 1500 at the "spot",,

So im trying to figure do i have 2 bad TPS sensors? becuase when i got the car it seemed like it had the same wacky idol 2300-2700 RPMs but when i poked the throttle i guess sometimes it would stop at the spot and it would drop to 900RPMs...

i really hope its the TPS and not anything deeper.. Im a Newb to this site and the RB motor and would really appreciate help, i know this has probably been answered before but i cant find it or im not looking hard enough..

The splice colors i found were these...Red/ Yellow-blackWhite/ Red-BlueBlack/ Black-blue

Right now the stock TPS is on because i get at least some response when i move it... But it can not mount onto the 90mm body... The 90mm TPS gives me no response at all..

i dont know if it has been recalibrated... but it was really high around 4 and 5... when it did drop to 1500 it sounded right for 1500

a bad tps won't make it idle that high. it's probably something physically holding your throttle plate or a bypass open

Yeah could be a stuck throttle body or the cable isn't long enough to relieve the throttle wheel.

the throttle body i cleaned well before i put it on, and there is pleantly of slack with the throttle cable.. (actually too much)..

Is the bypass in the throttle body? Im just trying to eliminate everything that it possibily could be... If i have the TPS off the body like i do and move it with my finger. should the RPMs move proportinial to my finger?

On the lower left side of the TB there is an adjustment bolt. Loosen it and see what happens. Also tightened the idle air valve screw. It's the thing in the middle of the greddy manifold, you can clearly see the adjustment screw. Make sure your cam angle sensor is in the middle of the support bracket.

ok i will try all those things Eh.. but why is there a "spot" on the TPS at what 1/4 throttle would be were the RPM's drop much lower. and if i turn to down to where idol should be the RPM's go up again... and are the wire colors on my first post correct? Eh im pretty sure i got those colors from a post you made on a thread lol

Yes the tps needs to be a adjusted for the ecu to see the TB is in the idle position. But you need to measure the voltage output of the TPS. Adjust the TPS until the voltage at the middle wire reaches ~0.40V

I finally got my idol to settle down to 1000 rpms. i had to turn that adjustment screw on the greddy almost all the way in... What is the A/F suppoesed to be on this motor.. the wide band is reading around 15 at idol and 13 to 14 driving..

Needs a datalog to correctly see AFR plot. 15:1 at idle is fine.
