so i got a rb25de neo for free, it came out of a r34 gts4 with 10k on it.
and i had some questions for when i turbo it. i know the CR is 10:1 because of the taller pistons so is there a company that sells a thick enough head gasket to give me a 9:1 or 8:5:1 ratio. and because it is awd when swapping the rwd pan will i run into any issues, or is it like the rb26 oil pan swap. and if anyone knows of good 25de-t neo build threads i would love to read up on them

dont waste ur time...buy a set of aftermarket forged DET rods and pistons and just call it a day...then slap on a turbo mani...and drive on...but if u insist on de-t get up with the aussies on skylinesdownunder or skylinesaustralia

i already have the manifold, and i was hoping not to pull the internals because of how little miles are on the motor. and for my ecu options am i better off with a neo 25det ecu and nistune that or get something like a power fc.

Also, putting on a thick head gasket to change your compression ratio, especially that much, is a VERY BAD idea. It's not that simple. There are other things that factor in to an engine's tendency to knock besides compression ratio like squish and quench height, both of which you will totally screw up installing that thick of a head gasket.

man plus ts have such a bad name lol..iv seen some done and they do last as long as u aint detting the s*** out of it and u have supporting mods...not just a turbo wacked on etc...the question is tho if ur gona pull the head off and do headgasket (which i beleave too is a bad idea) y dont u just wack some good condition second hand RB25DET pistons in and a proper DET headgasket??? least ud have the reliabilty and with a DET ecu it would all be fine???

i just am not going to pull my internals, i am not going to run high boost and im not going for crazy hp. the 1.8mm head gasket isnt too aggressive but it will allow me some more room for boost.
but if i do decide to change my internals i will go with forged after market. I will be working on the motor all winter and i will decide after looking at how much im going to spend

the thick headgasket is a waste of time in my opinion....for not much more u could put DET pistons in and a DET headgasket and be done with it....why pull it apart and do a half a** job??? ull be like dam i wish i listened to that guy wen u pull it apart the second time lol...and y get aftermarket forged pistons if ur not doing anything crazi thats just a waste of money

i say run it on DE internals, just dont run high boost, and that thing will be pretty quick, pulling apart a motor is super expensive. what turbo are you running stock ? what inj ? a solid tune will be the defining call on realibility on the setup

I will be running. A gt30 or hx30 @ 1 bar. With 600cc injectors.

just keep afr down and no detonation, and de internals will be ok, idk if neo has same ringland issues as r32 and r33 though maybe look into new pistons in future
