hey nico its been a long time since ive been active on here, but im back!

just did a r33 rb25det swap in to a customers s13 and im having a really odd problem...

the stock rev limiter on a r33 rb25 should be 6900?

this motor will rev past that and keep going, BUT, its acting like the hard cut limiter is trying to control the revs and cut fuel, well its not cutting enough because it keeps revving into a lean condition.

i have swapped mafs, set the tps, swapped coolant temp sensor, boost leak tested it,

the motor set is 100% stock. the ecu is 100% stock. i removed the engine from the clip, no mods what so ever.

the only thing i have not checked yet is the ecu..

dont have a extra to swap in at the moment..

this happen to anyone else?

thanks!

Hmmm, are you 100% sure it's not an after market flashed ECU. I've seen MANY cars in junk yards over here that were bone stock other than the ECU which had the speed/rev cut removed. Japanese LOVE them for some reason.

i thought that but why would the hard cut limiter cut fuel when boosting above 6900? were its normally supposed to be limiting the engine

just tell owner not to rev it past set number. i agree with cj its probally a local tuned ecu, try opening and see if there is a daughter board or a labeled chip. worst case scenario, wire in a shift light

does it go past 6900 under load or when free revving?
under load mine is limited to 6900 but in neutral i've revved just past 8000 before
