I ordered my RB25DET from Jhot and got an Automatic, the reason is that the motor only has 44.000 miles on it and it was only $1061 bucks. I really want to run a 5 or 6 spd transmission and while reading through the forums I found a thread that talked about people running chevy automatics behind their RB25's. This got me thinking that if a chevy automatic will bolt up, then a chevy Bell Housing should too! Which could open up some interesting possibilities as Muncie, Borg Warner and some aftermarket companies make nice transmissions for Chevrolet. What I was wondering is if anyone has any real world experience with this or maybe knows someone who has done this. I mean if your going to have a driveshaft made anyway, why not use these trannies as there are probably a million of them in wrecked cars all over the place.

im sure it would end up being much more expensive by the time you figured in custom work to make it fit, and the rb25 transmission is plenty strong anyway.

if you have the resources and equiptment to do it... by all means. Hes right though the stock rb25 transmission can take a beating. Yeah, shifter location/driveshaft/adapter plate/making sure the input shaft from the transmission fits inside the crank... all that junk needs to be accounted for.

You need a adapter plate--that by itself is expensive!!

Yeah you are gonna need custom work for sure. Simply because of the measuring system difference between the US and Japan, standard and metric. You are better off buying a OS Giken Gearbox kit. http://www.otomoto.com.au/osgi...s.htmCheck them out.

If you are referring to RBtally's setup it require alot and like stated the trannies dont just bolt up require a custom adapter plate amoung other things.

RB 5 speed is your best bet
