I was wondering if anybody on here is running altima fans as pushers on there rb25 s14 or if this would work. I know the blades are designed to pull but would pushing with these suffice??

rb20det in an s13 with big mish rad ive got them wired backwards and they seem to be working fine. they have 2 speeds so you can get a dual speed controller and really keep your car cool.

p.s. i run 160 on a 90 + day on the freeway hammering the boost.

If your on the freeway, your fans should not be on. The air coming at the front of your car while you are "hammering boost" way outflows your fans.

Flipping wires changes the direction of airflow, but also leaves you with a fan blade that is designed backwards. That is why most reversible fans have reversible blades as well.

In response to the original question yes you can run them as pushers i have been for some time and i'm quite happy with the way they are working.

They work fine even with the blade in the wrong direction they seem to push quite a bit more air then the 12 in universal slim fan i had on there. So in summary it's a far less expensive fix then spending up to 250 for a set of universal fans.

And yes the fans do come on on the freeway when you hit them proper temp for them to come on they should come on and cool the radiator. If they dident then you would overheat everytime you got into the boost.

I used maxima fans (same as the altimas) for a couple weeks, then the blades fell off. Untill that they worked fine and I only upgraded because they fell apart.

What happened is since the fans were running backwards the single nut holding the blades on came loose. Some locktite and it would be fine I'm sure. Now since i have OCD i have to go fix my radiator fins...

I have universal 13in jegs pusher fans now. They work perfectly. I think they have like 1460cfm each and they were only $150 for both.

So do you guys think the altima fans would be ok?? I guess i could go the extra mile and get the jegs pushers since thats what I had my eye on befor i ran across these but i found some new altima fans for 50 bucks and I'm all about a cheap yet affective alternative

I donno if the altima fans are good enough for track use.

Im not a fan of using them backwards since they aren't efficent. They did work ok for me when just dailying and boosting the crap out of it.

But I also had a CXracing radiator, and a nismo low temp tstat. I just had the stock temp gauge but it never got above normal temp.

And for the record I only used them because Ive had them for 3 years with my NA sohc. So all I had to do was wire them backwards and trim them to fit.

Fact of the matter is that I did answer the OP's question. Flipping polarity on fans is NOT the ideal way to handle the situation.

Yes I come across as a d!ck, and I am totally okay with that.

I think i'm just gonna try to use the clutch fan on the rb25 with the stock s14 radiator and see how that works out.

I trimmed my radiator support and moved up my koyo about 1". I tried my best to fit the atima fans up there but I couldn't even get them in. I ended up using fal 220's back there with good results. At its closest it sits about 3/4" from the ps pulley.

Scroll down to the 13in fan and thats what Im using. I looked at their 12in that you linked too and it didn't impress me. The curved blades are queiter and move more air and they dont use too much amperage.

It takes a bit of stuffing in there but my radiator is in the stock position and they fit. I'll post pics next week when Im at home.
