rb25 vss signal

Hi, I've spent a few hours now trying to figure out a few things, and so far I've come up with mostly nothing...

1) Does the vss increase voltage or frequency with speed?

2) What voltage does this usually operate at (I think I read 1.5VAC)?

3) Could this signal be replicated with a pwm signal?

4) What would happen if I input a DC voltage to the ecu, would it know what to do with it?
