So im in the process of having my intake n valve covers power coated and i really hate the breather hoses being towards the front and i really dont want to perpetrate with rb26 covers on the 25. Dont get me wrong the 26 covers look ways better but its not a 26, with that being said..

Can i relocate the breather hoses towards the back like on the 26 covers have it.. has anyone try this yet n would there be any cons to doin this?. I can do this at work but dint know if it will affect anything but i can be the ginny pig n see what they look like..

I don't think you can because of the way the baffles work on the underside of the covers. You'd end up sucking a ton of oil out of the head under acceleration.

They aren't aesthetically pleasing to say the least.

^^^^^ this..

I just think the motor would look so much cleaner with the hoses running in the back to the catch can..

darius, i understand what u said about the baffles on the inside but when people chage their covers to the 26 ones wich have the breathers in the rear, wont that be the same thing if i was to move everything towards the rear?

A portion of the baffle system design is cast into the cover then the remaining components are screwed on. Due to this you cannot easily relocate the breather connections, if you take a cover off and disassemble the baffle system you will understand why. I would share the same concern as Darius if you were to just relocate the breather hoses and not properly modify the baffle system to operate in the same manner as originally.

The RB26 covers have the appropriate baffle system in them to work with the different breather location.

Ok maybe yall are misunderstanding, i was talking about removing everything, including yhe baffles n relocating them towards the back not just the breathers. Im taking a look at my covers tomorrow( if its stops raining) n see what kind of labor i have to deal with, i may just figure out another way to run the hoses but will see..

Also im only talking about the two breathers on top not the pvc one thats cast on the corner but if it could be relocated too than as might as well

Okay well that's the correct way to do it. It certainly is possible but I personally couldn't justify all the work needed to do it. Keep us posted, I would like to someone pull it off.

It would be very hard to do. At that point, you might as well just have some billet covers made or take the easy way and slap some RB26 covers on :)

The baffles have to seal to the underside of the valve cover to keep oil from sloshing up on the vent ports on the rear for the RB26 and the front for the RB20/25 during acceleration. Unless you plan on doing this, the oil in the head will slosh to the back of the head under acceleration and quickly fill the catch can or your intake pipe, whichever comes first. I'd recommend using some fancy lines and fittings to plumb your PCV system and call it good.

Yeah, i kind of figure it be easier said than done. I dont really want to spend the 3-4 hundred for the 26 covers just for the breathers cause i still be a poser and im not goin that route... I guess i just try some fancy lines n call it a day..

Pic of my old setup. popped the breathers out, and tapped holes with a 1/2" pipe thread

^^^^ yeah thats nice.
after i took a good look at the covers, well i just dont see how in the hell i can relocate the baffles underneath with them running the almost entire length of the cover..so that idea is out the door..as much as i hate it, fancy lines it is
