Guys, I'm still trying to finish up my swap. The engine is running fairly well but won't idle properly due to a couple of vacuum leaks. Unfortunately one of them appears to be right at the valve cover inlet by the intake manifold. There's a little rubber grommet that fits into the valve cover and accepts the hose end. Any ideas on how to repair it? I'd hate to fix it and then have whatever I use to patch it get sucked into the intake manifold!

Also, (and the true purpose of the post) can someone please tell me where and what this nipple should be connected to? It's the piece under the small bit of duct tape in the center of the picture. The nipple is on the black metal pipe that curves around the exhaust manifold and infront of the wastegate actuator. It's not the wastegate actuator as I've got that hooked up correctly (I believe) to the intake manifold.

Thanks is advance!

i think that is for the stock bov to recirculate it. your not running the stock bov open are you? just in case you are that would be your big vaccum leak.

with your first problem, im a little confused. is the line that you think is leaking, broken? and you need a replacement or want to know how to repair it?

Well, I'd love to find a replacement but at this point I really need to repair it so that I can start driving the car a bit more and do some more troubleshooting. I am not running the BOV to atmosphere to the best of my knowledge though if that nipple really is the recirc point then I guess I am. Doh! Where does it connect to? From looking at the stock BOV, there's a vacuum line going from the intake mani to the BOV and then a big fat rubber hose connecting the BOV to the sinuous metal black pipe in my original picture. A couple of important things I've noticed though:

1. Right when I start the car up for the first time that day (I guess the equivalent of a cold start but I'm in Miami where things don't exactly get cold) the engine idles perfectly... for a while...and then after about 2 mins, it starts to lope due to what I assume is a vacuum leak. If I don't feed in some throttle it shuts off on me. It also lopes and shuts off when I'm coming to a stop at a stop light. I really have to blip the throttle to prevent it from stalling.

2. When my FAL fans kick on and the engine idles up very slightly, it smooths out nicely.

I've only limped it home about 30 miles from the wiring shop and driven it around the block twice in the past week. Clearly, I haven't yet driven or run the car under load for any extensive amount of time so don't flame me too hard
