You won't be able to rebuild it.

But... you can have a turbo shop change the wheels and center section.

I know a guy that did that with a RB20 turbo.Cost about 450-500.At that point I would go for a holset or a cheap t3 turbo.

Yeah to my knowledge the RB20/25 & 26 Turbos are Ceramic ball Bearing turbos.

My buddys turbo pretty much just uses the stock Compressor housing and Turbing housings bored out.New wheels, shaft and CHRA. To my knowledge.

Twisted- as far as the rebuilding. What did they do?

replaced all the seals and bearings, machined the compressor housing and exhaust housing to remove any burrs, and rebalanced it all. then, put it all back together and ceramic coated it for me.

For $200 thats great!!

Did he machine the CHRA for Journal Bearings too?

Because to my knowledge RB turbo are BB and you cannot rebuild them. Even GT Garrett turbos you cannot rebuild, you have to send it back to Garrett.

rb25 turbos are not bb. the problem in rebuilding them is the ceramic wheel. usually breaks when trying to remove the compressor wheel nut. you can rebuild them but its not worth it imo, plenty of good used ones kicking around. use it as an excuse for an upgrade!

Which is why we want to know the turbo shop so we don't break them, they do. But seriously where is this place for 200. I had a turbo guy swear his life to me that you couldn't rebuild one for under 500.

Oh wow, That's a little much for me, I'm not being cheep it's more of the principle of the build I'm doing. I'm trying to get a 200hp ka-t set up for less than $1000 and as close to $500 as I can, but the turbo isn't the thing I should cheep out on, + your turbo might suit my build better. So I'll have to research it a bit.

I have a new question though which turbo is it exactly, I did some looking and found a few diffrent ones that came on a rb25, so just wondering what model it is.

Also, I found that email, had some funny options set and it sent it to a whole other address, wired stuff.
