I just got a killer deal on a rb25 turbo to upgrade my rb20. I need to know exactly how directly this turbo will bolt up. I have a $375.00 3'' custom downpipe from turbo to cat that i am hoping will bolt right up. and how about the cooling/oil lines? replacing gaskets? where to get them if needed? anything else i am forgetting about? thanks guys.

bolts up perfectly, you should need no extra parts other than gaskets and crushwashers if the current ones are bad.

you can get a new turbo to manifold gasket from nissan, use one from an EARLY z31 turbo.crushwashers come from a z31 with the garrett turbo.

Rb20 wastegate will out you at 10ish psi when the rb25 one will put you at 7 i think, so use the rb20 one thats what i did.

did you do it yourself? is it messy?(coolant/oil) I am pretty handy, but all i have is hand tools. I am not sure how much a shop would charge to install this, but if they break something, at least THEY have to fix it.

Just coolant, it will pretty much leak till you plug the line, dont pay a shop its easy just remove and replace job.

So if you use the rb25det turbo, and slap the rb20det actuator to run the 10psi, do you need to change anything else? (injectors, engine management)

Thanks for pointing that out.

After reading your post about the later spooling and not that much power increase, I say why bother. I want quick spooling!

I'll sell you my Rb20DET turbo! hahaha. Depend what your overall goals are, personally I like the fast spool up, but man, when a big turbo hits it's peak, its amazing!!

It spools pretty much the same im just very anal, i listen to my engine all the time and small sounds annoy me and i spend all night tracing them down, put it this way if you can get the turbo for 100 or under go for it, if not than dont bother.
