I'm going to be taking my transmission apart soon and hopefully change the insert springs for my fourth gear, getting a grind at high RPM. Has anyone changed theirs? Don't know exactly what I'm looking for but have read that you can replace them without taking the gearset apart.

I have changed mine, but i also took apart the entire transmission and replaced bearings and synchro rings..

I have also heard that you can change them without pulling the shafts down..

They pop out all the time..lol so I would assume you can put them back in..

Heres the part number if you dont already know, 32609-40P00

Once you get the cases apart its pretty self explanatory.. they sit between the synchro hub and the slider there are 3 of them

mine have popped out again, i replaced them with used ones, i was unaware at the time that i could get new ones..

So i bought an R34 transmission.. they have been revised

Did you replace all six of yours? I know there are different part numbers for second and forth gear.

5th gear uses them too.

1/2 don't they are totally different, they cannot be replaced unless the transmission is competly disassembled

see if you can find the date on the transmission.. there should be one casted into it.. the year the parts applicable too seems to be the difference..

Click on transmission gear... scroll down till you get to the 32609 part numbers you see the date range

I got my part# from a R33 specific transmission catalog. Looks like yours is from an older transmission, they might be the same though. I'll post again if I have any trouble, thanks.
