i'm gonna be ordering an rb25 here in a few days or so. i know some places will swap out the transmission so you're not getting the rb25 trans anymore. i'd just like to know how to correctly identify the rb25 trans. i know its a bit larger than other transmissions, but thats all i know about them. are there some markings or something on there where you can tell its an rb25 trans?

It is a hell of alot bigger. It also appears to be shorter. Never measured mine but I did go through the ordeal of getting a rb20 trans with my rb25. Actually just recieved my 25 trans today.

Heres a pic I took today. 25 trans in the front 20 trans behind it.

I think another dead give away is the slanted pad where the shifter mounts. It's almost flat on the the RB20, but the RB25 is pretty slanted. Also, I just noticed there are no webbing lines on the RB25's bell housing, or not near as many as the RB20 at least.

This is correct.

As well, once you get the transmission, you can test out your driveshaft yoke to make sure. A 240sx driveshaft should fit in a RB20DET and RB25DE tail shaft.

It will not fit in the desired RB25DET transmission; which will need a larger yoke from a Z32.
