rb25 transmission vs rb20 transmission...

well, as stock, we all know that the rb25det's transmission is superior...

but..

if we'll take a reinforced (os gicket or such...) rb20det transmission, vs the rb25det's transmission, which is better?

the thing is, i have the rb20 transmission, and i need a stronger one (she'll not last for long...), what should i do? get an os gicken kit (which is far more expensive...) or get an rb25 transmission?

its os giken, and to be honest im not sure how strong their rb20 transmission internals are.

i mean the 20 transmission isnt THAT weak...its internally identical to the KA/SR for the most part and people do 400whp on those without much issue at all.

Get a 25 trans. In the US you can get a low mile one for like 900 shipped. You should be able to put up to 700hp no problem trough the 25 trans.

Dude, these aren't 'transmission's'.. they are gearboxes. :p Honda's have trannys.

Personally I'd chose the RB25DET box. Why? I don't know... but after having both side by side and seeing the internal's in pictures, the RB25DET box is chunky in every aspect compared to it's little brother. OS Giken isn't gonna spice things up too much.. and do they warranty their parts? I doubt it.. meaning, if you break it, you're gonna pay to play hard.

everyone always talks about the 'weak' rb20 trans, but i have yet to see or hear anyone post about one actually breaking. run yours until it breaks, then upgrade, oh and tell us when it does break.

well how much power do u need do u need a gearbox thats capable of 1400 hp than dump out the 3500 for it, if u wanna build a 500hp daily driven car, spring the 900 for a rb25det as simple as that, or u could cryo yer stock rb20 stuff

well a friend of mine took my car for a ride a year ago, while i still had the SR, stock turbo, 1.3 bar, 1/4 mile, and broke the 3'rd, so i have a trauma from those boxes...

the thing is, i'm planning on a t51r spl... and i know that my box wont last a second with that... so i rather get a better one instead of breaking it and get stuck (getting parts into israel takes a lot of time...)

i could'nt find a reinforced box for the 25... anyone knows where can i get one? (preferably 6 spd)

20 boxes break easier. I would run the 20 till it breaks though.

exactly what is "breaking" to you guys, simply bad syncros will occur in ANY transmission. If your talking about cracking the housing or something like that I understand but please with any car be prepared to replace syncros.

My rb20 had bad 1-3 so I had them replaced by a local shop with 300zx internals. I love it...

Synchro's are for p****** I want to see pics of broken gear teeth and sheared input/output shafts. Until then LONG LIVE THE RB20 GEARBOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my third gear syncros are shot, they grind like they are in the X-games.
