Have a couple questions , ive been searching alot for the past 3 months.

1. Best RB/Cheapest importer? ~ive been on nico looking for a rb25 motor set and theres only a couple, but now theres none. im looking to buy around jan 1st.

2.Estimated cost? for whole swapMy friend swapped his coupe he took 2 years off/on. hes got 15k in his. the onoly thing aftermarket i want motor wise is the Greddy intake mani. also a FMIC setup, downpipe/exhaust system. other than that its staying stock til i have money to waste again. (also im buying syko mounts/driveshaftshop 1pc/new water pump etc.)

3. series one or 2?

thats actually it. im guessing ill be 10K in the whole (no loans here ) when all is said and done.

Thanks NICO!

EDIT: found a bunch more info after i posted this. still the input would be nice.

1. umm can't help u on that one

2. a little over 11k to do it right. I spent 12k on my swap and I had it up and running within 6 months just workin on it on the weekends for a few hours.

3.Series 2 because it will problably have less miles than a series 1

wow really 11k to do it right....... i spent a little less than 4k not cheaping out on anything except the ssauto fmic kit.. which is just an ebay bar and plant with awesome fitting piping, so i have no complaints on it. Well i also didnt fix the crank collar but being careful and im rebuilding it summer of 2009 anyway.(of the many rb25s out there ive only seen and heard of a handfull of crank collar failures, its a risk but not at stock redline and power.)

but even if i did by a bada$$ $500+ fmic and fixe the crank collar thats only another $800ish

give me 11k and ill have a built rb25 making 500+ to the wheels....

bottom line if you do research and look for deals on good stuff the average person with out hook ups will spend less than 5k these days to get it running nicely.

[search, read and make friends = running rb] thats how i did it anyway

ya yesterday i spent until 5am sourcing out parts / prices and whatnot. hopefully when the time come to get the motorset, it will be 4K and under (price incudes new water pump, thermostat etc.)

the only thing i want is for it to be in, and driving. and then all worry about the aftermarket stuff. Looking good. People should do this instead of the $hitty sr20 swap

You will not have a complete install for under $4k. Assuming a $2500 motorset, shipped. There's $1500 to play with. $600 for custom mounts (assumption), $250 for custom driveshaft and $200 for a FMIC only leaves about $450 for all the miscellaneous crap that goes along with such a drastic engine swap. I think I was up to about $6 or 7k before I built mine.

Read the stickies for this info. That's why it's there.

I'm doing the swap right now and i've got everything I need as far as parts. I should be just under 5k and thats replacing most of the maintenance stuff(water and oil pumps, all belts, all the gaskets, valve stem seals, new clutch, koyo radiator, nismo fpr, thermostat, arp head studs) I didn't get any aftermarket mounts though just the r33 xmember. and everything else is stock.
