My buddy picked up a s13 with a RB25det in it. Most of the wiring was done and Darius finished the rest for us. We were waiting on a couple little things to fire it up like BOV and drive shaft. We got all of it and went to fire it for the first time. The fuel pump was really really quiet. So I threw in the RB fuel pump he had and it seemed to have plenty of fuel pressure ( I get sprayed in the face). Then the starter did nothing. We discovered the signal wire wasnt plugged in. Easy fix. It cranks over but doesn't seem to have spark. I know it has constant 12+ to the coil packs. I don't know where the signal comes from for the coils to test them. I pulled the plugs (which were f***ing autolite from either the previous owner or the JDM owner) We cleaned them up and threw them back in. Whats the best way to test signal to the coils and then to test spark. I found one post on here but really didnt understand. I have never dealt with DIS cars. I know how to test the injectors after some reading. I'm gonna head out and do that after this.

I'm just looking for some direction here. I'm a Honda guy thats heading to the dark side.

Nevermind. We got her running. I don't think I was testing spark right. I had the coil out and the plug in it. The plug was resting on a ground. The previous owner had the fuel and return line backwards. I pulled the fuel line and it was dry as hell. So I pulled the return line and it had pressure and dumped fuel. I switched them around and pulled the CAS off and turned it by hand (cause this is how we test it on a Honda but with the dizzy). I could hear is spray. So I pulled a plug and held a torch over the spark plug hole and turned the motor over and had flames coming out. So I knew we had good fuel in the cylinders. Threw the plug back in and the coils back on and she fired up. We only let it idle for about 15 seconds cause we diet have coolant in it. Then called it a night. Were getting new plugs in the morning and adding coolant. His pusher fans are huge so he's selling them and getting some Spal's. Maybe taking her for a ride. Anyone want a very nice set of Slim Fan brand fans hit me up.

Oh and I have to weld in his wideband bung and hook up the boost gauge tomorrow.

Anyone know what compression should be on a RB25 off the top of there head?

Make sure you switch the fuel filter over too if that was installed already. If not, get that on there ASAP.

Compression numbers are around 150 psi. Make sure the throttle body is held open while testing. Mostly just look for consistency across the cylinders because compression doesn't tell you much if there IS an issue. I'm sure the compression is good. I am pretty sure Andy checked that a loong time ago.

Glad to hear you guys got it running!
