Is there anywhere where I can find an FAQ on swapping the RB25 into an S13 240?

I have many questions but I'm sure they have been asked already and I found nothing when I searched.

Thanks.

Send me your questions and I will see what I can do to help you out. I just completed the swap and am painting the car as we speak.

I bought the ft clip for $2500, I spent about $300 in maintenance parts(thermostat, timing belt, water pump, things that were easier to change wiht the motor OUT of the car) about $400 for a custom one piece drive shaft, around $150 for the new fuel pressure regulator and that is about it. Lots of electrical tape and solder, new plugs, oil & filter. I spent $150 on a Walbro fuel pump....I think that is about it. Time wise I think the whole swap took me.....2 weeks of work if I did it straight.

Venus-Auto is selling their RB25DET clip for $2500 plus 500 for shipping and RB20DET for $1200 plus shipping. Do you guys think I should trust/buy from them? Which of the 2 would you guys get for their prices. Thanks

if they have a start up warranty, I would buy. Some people have gripes. I am thinking of ordering an RB20 clip from them. My opinion on this is you will ALWAYS have sour apples in naythign you buy. I am going on my third PS2, does that mean no one should buy one??? I mean a 300 piece of electronic and multi thousand dollar engine are two different things, but same concept. if they have a warranty....why not. it may take awhile to get the new engine/parts/whatever but at least you wont be paying for it. And the egin you go with should be dependant on your goals. I cant justify to myself (or wife LOL) spending 2500 on a RB25 when my goals are only 300rwhp or less. I can take that 1000 plus saved and so some maintance or buy aftermarket parts Like a new turbo or something. If you have the extra dough, the n I would of course say get the 25. Why not??? But I am strapped for cash with a SOHC that likes to act dumb, so I want somethign cheaper which leads to getting an engine sooner

On the KA it is a chain but on the RB it is a belt. Just dropping in the motor took one day but the wiring, powersteering lines, exhaust modifications, steering shaft modifications, intercooler tube routing, custom radiator hoses, custom bracketting, Dual electric fan wiring, all the little stuff takes a bit of time.

Hey Jon,what type of steering shaft modifications did u have to do for your rb swap? I have been researching around and havent seen anybody mention steering shaft modifications when swapping in an rb. Also with the power steering did u use the stock lines or did u have to make them longer or get custom lines? thanks

Having to modify the steering shaft is news to me. But as for the power steering the 89-90(forgot what year it was) setup will need to be changed. Basicly the power steering resivoir needs to be on the drivers side and the single cam motor has it on the passenger side. So what ever year strted puting the P/S resivoir on the driver side those lines will work.

The steering shaft hits the dump pipe(right off the turbo has the O2 sensor in it) I ground about 1/16 inch off the pipe and took the corners off the collar that the shaft slides into no the rack to make it clear. It touches, but only a little and this clears that up. As for the steering lines, I had a high pressure line made up that was a bit SHORTER than the stock one as on the 89 and 90 the reservoir and the pump is on the passenger side and the inlets to the rack are on the drivers side. I used the RB reservoir and made my own bracket to mount it on the drivers side and ran the lines to th RB pump on the drivers side also. I dont really have any RB20 experience but I agree it will probably be the same.

jon - if presented the opportunity to make some cash off the deal, would you feel confident doing the swap again?

Mang, send me an email, let's talk. I would only be interested if there was a deal upfront not ot put any pressure. I could do whatever you would like but it would have to be on a weekend basis and I would like to have all the parts up front before starting. Maybe 1 weekend for the new parts install, one for the motor install and one for the wiring. Drop me a line and we will talk. Remember I am not a professional and have only done this one time but I feel confident I could reproduce my results. Just remember that if I need ANY parts they will probably have to come from Japapn so be patient. NOBODY works good under pressure.
