Please include what other mods you have relavent to the turbo, particularly the FMIC...

I'm thinking about turning mine up from 10PSI, and was just wondering what my fellow RB25'rs on here are running on the stock turbo..

I've got a Greddy S14 FMIC, so I figure I am probably safe for a little more.

series 1 or series 2 rb25?

the S1's have notoriously weak turbos (ceramic exhaust wheel, realistically safe to 12-13psi before the exhaust wheel explodes.)

the S2's are safe higher, but are WAY outside of their efficencey range anywhere above 12-13psi. sure you CAN run more, but theres no real reason.

Series 2..

I've been reading around and keep seeing stuff like 1.1 to 1.3 bar and it got me to thinking.. heh..

I'm getting ansty waiting on a Z31 T3 to surface for the right price, or a good deal on a GT30R... so far neither has happened and my seat dyno is getting seriously deprived..

Owning a turbo car is worse than smoking in terms of addiction.

Im running 12psi with a rb25 s2 turbo, with a fmic, 3 inch turbo back with a fart can, Kamin is right i was running 14psi for about a month and it is a waste of time, the turbo looses efficiency, 12 psi is about the best for power, too many worries at 14.

I don't know, I've had both motors, and both exhaust wheels looked the same to me.

well, not sure what series mine is(what a easy way to tell) but with a manuel boost controller, we turned it from 7ish to 11, no problems!mods are Greddy fmic and intake manifold, mckinney down pipe, megan test pipe, 3'' Tanabe exhaust.

Hmm... That's pretty scary. Are you sure there were no other factors that lead to disintegration?

On the SDU forums I've seen guys posting 17PSI on S2 stock turbos.. Doesn't mean they aren't lying or something else going on there, but I'm just kind of bored. I'm running 10PSI right now, and 12PSI hardly seems worth the effort of putting an MBC on it.

The max I've definitely seen posted the most often seems to be 14PSI.. But if you've got an actual busted wheel off 14.. hmm.. no spikes or anything??

HMMMMMMM.... -sigh-

Ive been running 12psi for a few weeks on the SMIC. As soon as I turned it up we ran it with a wideband several times and made some slight adjustments with the SAFC. It pulls very smooth now, and Im sure it will only be better next week with the fmic and Greddy intake manifold.

keep us posted, I'd like to know how much hp you have now and how much hp you have after you get the fmic and manifold.

FMIC + 255 + 13-14si + Stock ECU = LEAN

Are you referring to me? If so, I always run a wideband session after making these types of mods to the engine. If it runs to lean and my tuner doesnt think it would be wise to tune an SAFC that far, the parts will come back off til I get AEM.

Neo rb25.. walbro 255, 3" dp, 3" test pipe, apexi gt spec exhaust, smic, mbc, hks ssqv (blown atm), 13 psi = running rich... backfires with any quick shift over 3.5k rpm.

I have the recirculation fitting for the ssqv but when i was taking the screws off, i dropped the allen key and dunno where the hell it went. (it was 3am in a safeway parking lot... give me a break!) lol. Gonna go get another wrench tonight and recirculate it.
