I've benn workin on this engine for a couple of months now. I have everything done but I still don't have any spark. I've tried 2 different ecu's. The red light on the bottom stays lit and doesn't flash(assuming that it means its not throwing any codes. I have series1 coils packs on my series 2 and I do have an ing chip wired in. I don't get any output from the ecu, I've checked this with my osciliscope. I'm 99% sure that I've wire evrything up correctly. So if anyone has any input on this, its' much appreciated.

You need the Ignitor. and you must still have wiring problems iif you have no spark. do you have 12v to coil and CAS?? Is CAS triggering the injectors???

Yes I have the ignitor, The cas does work because when I trun it by hand the injectors open and close like they should. Also the coil packs do get 12v.

I've checked continuity for each wire going to the igniter chip and they all check out fine. But i still dont have any signal coming from the ecu(I've tried both ecu's that I have ones a s1 & the other is a s2)

do you have your ecu grounds hooked up. By the water pump housing. Also there are 2 connectors for the coil pack. One is for the ecu signal which is a 7 pin connector and there is a 2 pin connector for POWER AND GROUND. Should be right next to eachother. Also, there is a ground wire on the coil pack harness need to ensure that is all hooked up whoodie!

ya I've checked all the grounds, but I don't have a signal coming from the ecu. everything else works and I'm not throwing any codes

Are you getting fuel? Are you getting spark? What have you done to confirm both?

I do get fuel(turned the CAS by hand), I'm not getting a signal from the ecu(I hooked my oscilloscope to the output to the ecu)

seems like the ecu whould work fine if it's getting the basic inputs. Such as sensor input. I believe the ecu needs these inputs to generate the ignition pulse. ensure all sensors and maf are installed and connected.

I had a similar problem when i tried starting mine for the first time. engine cranks and had fuel, but no spark... after talking with Carl it was actually 2 relays thats needed with this swap in which i did not have. purchased 2 relays, installed and first crank engine fired right up..

LOL you just got lucky that yours was such an easy fix. One picture told the whole story.

The S2 motor has a grounding loop on top of the last bolt for the coil packs right? Is that connected/in tact?

theres no voltage going to the igniter from the ecu, but theres voltage going to the igniter from the coilpacks

From what I remember, and it has been a while so somebody correct me if I'm off, but the coil packs are on switched power with the ignition and the ECU grounds the signal wire to fire the coil packs. So you should be seeing 12V at the coil packs and no signal "from" the ECU.

Have you checked your IGN and ECCS relays to make sure they are functioning properly?

Does anyone know which wire go to what pin on the OBD port, because I think I'm Just gonna use a realtime scanner that I have to see what the voltages are on the sensors. Seeings that my 240 didn't come with a port I figured I'd wire one in seeing that I have a blank one at my house.

Might sound like a stupid mistake but make sure your wires to the coil pack arn't touching, are any other wires that could affect spark. That happened to me lol I wasn't getting anything, found the wires and BAM, fixed it.

The pinout for the Consult plug is on the same page as the pinout for the ecu. A Consult plug from any OBD1 240 will be the same. Any OBD1 Nissan is the same for that matter, I believe.
