K heres the set up:RB25 in 95 S14Greddy EmanageStock TurboUnknown tune?Walboro fuel pumpStock Maf

Just bought this car, it has a sputter problem at 5000rpm. Sounds like its hitting a revlimiter pretty much, cuts all power, and cannot go up in rpm. Just did new plugs NGK BKR8EIX gapped at .8 Previous owner said some coil packs were repalced, but Im thinking this is the issue.

Also, there is a ticking noise, not valvetrain, coming from the top of the head. Almost sounds like a spark

Any insite to this problem would be very apprieciated

No it dose not climb after 5000 and has started to do it whenever there is a load on it. im running 9 lbs of boost, im running front mount and the pipeing is custom. i have not checked into the fuel pressure yet, but every time that "click" happends it's like the car is running on 5 cylenders and feels unballanced.

one (or more) of your coilpacks is bad. If it clicks at idle, unplug each coilpack individually until the click stops, then you'll find your bad coilpack

So i changed the coil's wich seemed to be the problem but the misfire keepis moveing arround over all the cylinders? i did however find a whole/ tear in the front of the moter in one of the lines im not sure what line it is or if it would effect my problem but ill put a pic up anyways. Also the car dose not sputter when cold. it is only once you warm it up that it runs like junk. <a

ok wait.

you have no idea what tune is on your emanage, but its a stock engine.

remove the emanage, fix that hose, im pretty sure the misfire will go away.

why is the emanage on there in the first place?

so what? its a stock engine

the stock RB computer will run it fine.

bottom line is you have no idea what tune is on it, and thats a recipe for disaster.

I agree with ^ about zeroing out the emanage and fixing boost leaks, but at 9psi on my 25 I was maxing out the stock maf which felt like what you're describing.

First things first, makesure that hole isnt a boost leak, then check for more boost leaks. then check your ciols for cracks/torn boots. then check your ignitor and coils with a multimeter per the FSM. put the stock ecu back on for troubleshooting purposes. check your MAF voltage, and TPS voltage, check coolant temp sensor, and timing. Did you replace the timing belt? if so, double check the mech timing. then set timing and idle per the fsm. if all that checks out, then it may be rich and retarded. the ecu sees too much air coming (some call this maxing the MAF) into the system, and pulls timing and dumps fuel in to keep the motor from blowing up. Esp with a FMIC, intake and exhaust, and increased boost. This is where the emanae comes in. get it tuned. you will be pleasantly urprised. I struggled with this problem for a long time before I finally broke down and bought an aftermarket ecu and like magic, the problem went away. Get on SAU and search for R & R, or rich and retard.
