So ive got a s1 rb25, and i believe its got an rb20 transmission on it, but neither of my speed sensors will fit into the transmission, the 25 sensor is obviously too long, and the what i thought was a ka speed sensor is too fat to go in, wrong sensor????or is something else going on.....any info would be greatly appreciated!

I just swapped my S1 speed sensor for a Z32 NA(red gear).

I will post a pic tonight or tomorrow of my S1 sensor to compare yours to.

Sounds to me like your attempting to use a KA auto speed sensor.

+1

RB20 transmission will allow for a manual KA speed sensor. Same transmission :P

Wont the KA speed sensor be off though? I thought I read somewhere you will get better readings with a z32....

Like i said, im almost positive its a rb20 transmission, its what came with the motor, bummer, but the driveshaft that i have has the rb20 yolk on it and fits perfect. I bought the ka speed sensor used so its possiable its for an automatic, like i said, its just too big around to fit into the hole. I roughly measured it with a measuring tape and it was a little over 2 1/4 inches wide. Also the transmission case has RP71C stamped on it, if that helps at all. Thanks for all the feedback guys!

Just go on napaonline.com and look up speed sensor for Z32/300zx TT, and auto looks different than 5spd. So auto sensor looks like it will not work in 5spd trans.

Here I saved pics from Napaonline.com , and this 5spd speed sensor from 300zx is different than S13 and S14 (SR/KA) sensors, so you'll need sensor from 300zx TT to work in RB25DET trans and I think also RB26DETT AWD if any one is swaping this trans in.

Here's 5spd 300ZX 2+2 V6TT speed sensor from Napa Part#ECHVSS622, their asking $199 this is expensive.

And the auto trans same car by the way I typed in 1993 for year of vehicle. Notice how much shorter it is then 5spd, part#ECHVSS623 price $169.

Courtesyparts.com parts for 1990-1996 300zx

25911-Z32008 SPEEDOMETER SENSOR $190.6132743-Z32001 SPEEDOMETER PINION $18.24 (TT has 18teeth, N/A has 20)32744-Z32001 RING-LOCK,SPEEDOMETER PINION $0.97Speed sensor should come with o-ring I think, other wise it's like $1.50 for new o-ring.

And by the way, looks like there is 2 different pinion gears for speed sensors for N/A with 20teeth and TT with 18teeth. Think speed sensors are the same tho.

I got my speed sensor from AdvanceAuto for 80 bucks... its for a 96 300zx N/a and at MOST im +/- 1mph verified via tomtom GPS. Went right into the trans... just had to swap out the gear on it and the sleeve inside the sensor's connector... the RB connector and 300zx's connector are the exact opposite (Not in polarity but the connector's plastic itself is... but the sleeves are interchangable and snap right in, youll know what im talking when you see it and go to plug it together. Easy fix... tiny flathead to pry and all good.)

Edit: Wait im an idiot... i need to pay more attention to what im doing... UNLESS the RB25 and RB20 transmissions have the same speed sensor??
