I installed my NISMO short shifter into my RB25 transmission today and thought I'd share my experience with you all. This is my first write up so excuss the semi-blur in some of the pics. I will do my best to compensate for it.NOTE: THIS WAS COMPLETED ON A S13 CHASSISTOOLS: SOCKET WRENCH, HEX KEYS, NEEDLE NOSE PLYERS, FLAT HEAD SCREWDRIVER
STEP 1:Remove the SHIFT KNOB & SHIFT BOOT CONSOLE. This piece should just snap off.
STEP 2: Unbolt the RUBBER BOOT and METAL SUPPORT RING. There are four bolts easy to access, no problems thus far...
STEP3:Next is removing the locking rings that keep the shifter in place. These are a B itch to get out... I used a flat head screwdriver (SD) to pick ring #1 out.
Next up I used the needle nose plyers to get ring # 2 out. If you look carefully you can see that ring #2 has two holes in each end of its structure, making it easier to probe with the plyers and squeeze to remove.AND SHES OUT! RANDOM PICS OF MY SHIFTER AND GT KNOBSTEP 4:Next you need to align the groves on the shifter, with the knotches on the transmission to assure a accurate fit. Once in place you can move the shifter about to make sure that you have installed it correctly.STEP 5:Re-Instering the Rings a Doom. Insert them in the reverse order Ring #2 then #1. Once in the shifter will not be able to be pulled away from the transmission. After that is completed toggle with the shifter to make sure that you are happy with the new one and the sexy short throws and smoothness! Here is what it should look like after install...TOTALLY COMPLETE!
Thanks for reading I hope this has been or maybe will be of some service to you in the near future.
