RB25 + SAFC settings issue

I know SAFC = bad but it's what I'm working for right now.

The proper settings for RB with Z maf is 2 in and 4 out. But on that setting the throttle kills the motor. The turbo spools super fast and loud and the car goes no where.

BUT on 2 in and 1 out the car runs 10x better. It's actually pretty quick and can go up to redline.

I suspected my timing but my idle is at about 1400 and I can't get it down to check the timing properly. Idle valve is all the way in. Pretty stumped. Any clues?

is this a newly swapped motor?

Was the motor running fine before the SAFC install?

I would make sure BASE timing is dead on and any eliminate any vacuum leaks.

It's impossible to set the base timing with the idle so high. I cannot get it down.

It's a newly swapped motor. It was not running properly before as what I thought was a stock MAF was actually a Q45 MAF. I did a headgasket, Z MAF, and intake manifold and this is pretty much the first time driving and trouble shooting.

The 2 in and 1 out setting is the Q45 setting, Z setting should be 2 in 4 out. What would make it run better on the 2 in 1 out?

I have eliminated all vac leaks, checked mech timing several times. Idle is still high so I can't get a proper reading for base.

Make sure the air regulator is getting 12V & ground.

Will check tonight.

if ur running the q45 throttle body make sure you remove that extra cold spring its there for coolant lines routing which you dont need
