Hi Guys,

First post here. Im just wondering if people who have RB25 powered S13s can post up some pictures of their engine bays especially of shots that show how low/far back the motor sits. Also let me know what mount/crossmember combination you are using.

I have an RB in my S13 180sx (JDM) and with the manifold im trying to fit, the bonnet wont close. Im looking into maybe getting one of the Mckinney kits but dont want to fork out if they arent going to drop the motor much for me.

Cheers,Ryan

Enjoy...zerothread/127233

And welcome to Nico. Search for the topic of mounts have been covered many times.

As well, a picture of your manifold would probably tell us all why its hitting (you might know why as well)

I don't have any pictures of what you are requesting. The easiest solution would be to get a different intake manifold and dump the stock cross-tube style. That would alleviate your issues. This is what most people do.

I used the stock R33 cross member and transmission mount. I still need to cut out the skeleton of my hood.

What FMIC piping did you use?

I'm leaning towards, he's trying to fit a aftermarket exhaust manifold which might not be what you may call "best" fitting

Just a hunch

Hey guys,

Cheers for the feedback. This seems like a very welcoming forum

Heres my donk as it sits at the moment:

The plenum im using is a Plazmaman item. It basically replaces the top half of the OEM assembly, giving you a forward facing plenum with some flow advantages (apparently....all I really care about is the forward facing part).

Anyway, the bonnet fouls big time on it right about near where you can see that solid fuel line running under it =(

I am going to cut the bonnet supports out which should help, but I also want to lower the engine as much as possible. Currently its mounted using an A31 cefiro crossmember, R32 engine mounts and brackets. The intake side cam cover sits flush with that little ledge on the S13 firewall.

What I was after is peoples opinions on how to get these things as low as possible (and pics of aftermarket mount kits in action). Thanks for that link Coolwhip il check it out now.

it's not a tomie its just an rb25 with 26 valve covers painted the closest color blue we could find to the tomie blue, i wish i had just bought a tomie motor it would have been cheaper and my car would have been done and running 6mths ago, but almost the entire tomie catalog ended up in my motor right done to the tomie 2.8 stroker kit. Thanx though.

Thanks guys keep em coming

Im starting to think I might just slot my engine mount brackets down a bit and maybe space the crossmember from the chasis rail a tiny bit (really dont wanna do this though!).

That and cutting my bonnet supports out should be enough hopefully....

That looks nice and low mate! I know its in an S14 but the two should be somewhat similar (I use the cam cover against the ledge on the firewall to judge).

I found this in another thread on the forum...looks like its using the McKinney kit:

From peoples experience, does that look about right for where the mckinney kit will end up placing your motor? If so then thats quite an improvement, and I may have to consider purchasing one
