This question is for anyone out there that has done this swap:

Have any of you all kept the a/c and/or the p/s?

TIA.

I plan on trying very hard to keep my AC and PS. I know of a local AC shop that can make lines. If I can get them to fit well I will see if he can make more for others.

I have P/S on mine and the S13 with Rb25 I just finshed has P/S too. You can keep the A/C, just need new A/C lines and get the siring correct. Lots of room so no Problem.

All of our RB swaps kept P/S as well. We can do A/C no problem as well.

Dennis you should sell me a complete rb25det DIY kit...in which i can directly bolt on the engine/transmission/driveshaft/power steering and a/c...into my s14 without cutting my hood or anything like that. maybe some rebuild things for the motor as well. i don't need the motor as i can source one locally(im up in canada), but i need everything required to do the swap correctly. can you help me on this? please email me [email protected]thanks

last i checked, if you bought an engine from UH, they wouldnt even give you the wiring info, unless they were doing the swap. That's pretty ****ing selfish if you ask me. Night7 knows what I'm talking about, he read the same AIM convo as me.

Do you have to get custom lines for the PS or does it fit right up? Thanks

Power steering is fine. It's the A/C that you need to revamp a wee.

We can put together a kit like that. You'll have to email us for info...so we can get back to you when we have all the right answers. We aren't ready to sell a kit yet, but should be very soon.

As far as wiring, you have your opinion, we have ours. Research costs money, and we give away a lot of our research. Wiring info is not one of those things we have chosen to give out...nor is it something that many other companies chose to give out. Nobody attacks heavythrottle for not giving out SR swap wiring info for the S14 and S15 SRs, so why UH? Nobody calls up JWT and asks them for a wiring diagram and some programs to socket and rechip their own ECU, do they? How are these different?

because you dont provide wiring information to people that buy the damn engine from you. if heavy throttle sells an engine, im sure theyll give out the wiring info to that person. jwt will give out info on how to install their products too. its called watching out for the customer.

Last I checked, heavy throttle does not give out wiring info. They offer the wiring service for their swaps, just like us. Are you sure they do because you feel they are a reputable company, or because you have actually checked on it?

As far as the JWT comparison goes, we give out the same amount of info that they do, in my opinion. What I gave was a direct comparison, what you gave isn't. Wiring info with an engine purchase...we haven't added in our R&D costs into the price of an engine.

Now, if you want to compare buying a JWT ECU and the help they give you installing it to what we do...then we do the same. If someone buys our wiring service, we do everything necessary to explain to them how to install it. That is a direct comparison, in my opinion.

Your evaluation of what we do...it is like if I bought a set of cam gears from JWT and then expected them to explain to me how to socket and chip my ECU, and give me wiring diagrams, sell me the daughterboard at cost, and email me a program to burn. That is a direct comparison.

But really, the fact of the matter is, if you think you can get a better overall deal on an engine/wiring info from somebody else, go ahead and do it. We don't expect everybody to buy an engine from us...and we don't sell very many engines that aren't for in-house installs. And if you think you can get a better overall deal (quality, cost, etc.) by buying an install kit from us (which is what this topic is actually about, right), then do that.

I'm not sure what my AIM conversations have to do with anything...since we have always stated publicly that we won't give out the wiring info. It isn't like we told people that they would get wiring info if they bought the motor...and then when the motor showed up, we said we wouldn't.

If you think we are evil for not giving out every single bit of our R&D, then you should open your eyes and look at what is standard in the automotive world and in other research industries. If you want to talk about taking care of our customers, wiring info isn't taking care of your customers. Going to Florida to change a water pump is taking care of your customers. Going across town to fix a customer's suspension, that is taking care of your customers. Fixing a customer's car that got broken into outside of the shop, replacing the door and window, and getting it repainted (all at our cost), that is taking care of your customers. Telling your customers where they can find something cheaper than getting it through you...that is helping your customers. Those are the sorts of things that we think count, and that is why we do them.

And that really is all I have to say on the subject, so don't expect further replies.

Thanks,
