i think i got the wrong mafs with my motorset. the motor is a series 1, with 4 wires coming out of the loom for the mafs (black, black/white, and red and white under the grey shielded wire).

the plug on the mafs only has 3 wires (red/grey, white, black), and they are much thicker than the wires on my harness. so did i get a S2 mafs with my S1 motorset? or am i just a n00b and not know something that im supposed to do? lol

here are some pics:

thanks for the help.

Are you sure you got a S2 motorset and/or S2 wiring harness?

There is a thread around here that has a link to nissan MAF sensors and their differences. I have it saved in my favorites but I'm not at my work computer. Search for recent topics about MAF RB25DET.

im 100% positive i got a s1 motorset and harness. it has the ignitor chip on top, and the harness was all plugged up to everything when i got it.

so i did some more searching and came across this thread: zerothread?id=253626with this little chart inside:

so according to that, i definitely got a s2 mafs instead bastards

thanks for the reply darius

tr4nch,

I can tell you this, the RB20 and RB25 S1 MAF's are the same.

The JECS sticker should be GREEN and say 'J60' on it (upper right-hand corner).

If you are looking at the plug, you should have five pins, but the last should not be wired in.

You my friend, most definitely received an S-2 MAF

just bringing back my old thread instead of making a new one..

i was just wondering, instead of buying a J60 mafs and selling this E60 one that i have, could i just wire up the 3 wires on the E60 and it will work without any problems on the s1 motor? or will the signal not read the same or something?

thanks for the help.

(and a late thanks to l0nestar for the reply, lol)

You can rewire the S2 MAF plug to your S1 wiring harness, and the MAF will output the same signal.
