Hello everyone,So not too long ago I bought an rb25 off a private owner and later found out it had problems left and right. It was installed at Mckinney motorsports and found out that the harness was done by them previously for an s13 instead of an s14, so I got a new harness and started fresh. Later I had some boost leaks and replaced some hoses. After That, the idler bolt broke (probably from overtightening) and luckily I didn't lose the timing as it was still in its place. so we replaced the bolt re-did the timing to spec, cranked it and it ran perfectly! I take it for a drive and do a few small pulls to see how it felt and it felt great; very smooth. I pull it back in the garage and let it idle to cool down and all of a sudden the the cam angle sensor started making a clicking noise and got louder until it stopped then it wouldnt idle correctly. We tried moving the cam angle sensor around see if that would make a difference but still nothing. Now I dont know what to do as the only thing we messed with was the front of the motor. If anyone can help me out please let me know. ThanksDavid

you think that could be it? its wierd because we just cleaned the CAS and put it back in and now it runs smooth. how much does a CAS run for?

thats a vital piece of information lol

if you cleaned it and its working its possible the clicking was just arcing from a poor connection in the terminal.

if its working fine now, dont touch it.

Ya I understand that, I cleaned the shaft of the CAS and used some bearing grease to keep it smooth then I blew on the connector and it is working but its very odd how even after when it idles the motor will start to drop in RPMs to the point where its going to stall and when I begin to drive it and go through the RPM range, at about 3500 it feels as if its not getting enough fuel and only getting air. When I get into 3rd gear however it starts correcting itself until I come to a stop and idle for awhile. This is so confusing

mine was doing the same thing until my CAS finally seized. running no upper timing cover. you need to put some spacers inbetween the CAS and the mounting bracket.
