I can get a Greddy belt for $75 or so, but would it bet better to get Power Enterprise timing belt?

Also, I know you can remove the charcoal canister on the KA24DE, but do RB25 motorsets even come with the charcoal canister? I haven't really seen anything in reference to the charcoal canister while browsing.

25's DO have a canister - from factory, but nobody uses them.

I have a GReddy timing belt. I like it, but I can't compare it to a PE, since I have not used the PE belt.

I have all PE belts on the motor, i dont have any problems w/ them at all...but then again, i dont think i've ever seen an aftermarket belt fail, i'd think they would equally be good to use

Thanks. I guess I won't worry about the charcoal canister.

I think I'll go ahead and get the Greddy timing belt.

And like Largekid said, I don't see the Greddy failing.

Funny you should say that because I'm going to try to reinstall a new one this summer since my car and garage always smell like gas. You're right though, everyone removes them for simplicity.

i had to change it out cuz it was rubbing my lower cover. i only bought the greddy one b/c when i first built the motor there were no oem options available. oem one is like 1/4 the price of all the aftermarket ones. works great. most people on here will tell you otherwise though b/c they buy in to the greddy/hks/PE hype and want to pay that premium. they'll also claim the oem one will stretch on you with all the sick power they plan to make

Gawzilla, clearly you are not aware that the stock timing belt is only good for 5000hp and the greddy is good for infinity horses.

Way to limit your setup!

Wow, ok. So the purpose of the aftermarket is for hp applications and not longevity in general? I mean, I know if it can withstand high hp applications, it's durable, but I mean basically the oem is fine?

oem is fine. the aftermarket ones have "better materials" and CLAIM to last longer/not stretch. yet to see it. seriously if you're not making some ridiculous hp the belt isn't going to stretch. what is the recommended timing belt replacement for oem? 75k miles? are you really putting 75k miles on your motor?

save the $75-100 and get oem. use the leftover money to splurge on that hks ssqv

Consider your RPM expectations, not HP. I wouldn't be running an OEM belt if I was considering spining past 8.5k. And I surely wouldnt be the one to try and test the limits. Just my opinion.

RPM is correct, but there's more. RPM and valvetrain play a role here. If you upgrade the valve springs or get a more aggressive cam, then it would be harder to rotate the motor due to increased resistance with the valve springs or cam profile. If you don't plan on upgrading anything inside the head, then get a stocker. If you do plan on doing some head parts, get a stronger belt to compensate for the additional strain.
