i just got a s14 and i am looking to do a swap. i am thinkin either an rb25 or a rb26 what is ur opinion?? this will be an every day driver i am lookin to get about 500hp when im done with the motor. aslo how hard is it gunna be to get to that hp, and will i still at least be able to run premium gas ?? one more thing how hard will the swap actually be ?

You've got alot of research to do. How "hard" the swap will be depends on your mechanical skill. I would definitely go RB26 for the power your after.

RB25 is a simple swap, strait forward, engine for engine. RB26 takes some work, you have to change out the AWD transmission for a RB25's transmission. RB26 swaps cost alot more than RB25's. Both produce an insane amount of power.

In fact i dont really understand why you would go with a RB26. Yea twin turbos are cool but they are stock twin turbos... Typically when making big power you switch over to a single large snail. Sooo why would you pay a few g's more for an extra .1 liter of displacement...

Just my two cents.

i am thinkin either an rb25 or a rb26 what is ur opinion??MY OPINION IS YOU SHOULD DO NEITHER UNTIL YOU DO YOUR RESEARCH FIRST.

this will be an every day driver i am lookin to get about 500hp when im done with the motor. 500HP RB-POWERED S14 AS A DAILY DRIVER...YEAH OK...

aslo how hard is it gunna be to get to that hp, and will i still at least be able to run premium gas ?? IF YOU CAN AFFORD IT (AND SEARCHED AROUND FOR INFO), YOU WOULDN'T BE ASKING THIS QUESTION.

one more thing how hard will the swap actually be ?IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING, IT'S OBVIOUSLY GONNA BE HARD. DOING SOME RESEARCH WILL DEFINITELY HELP OUT.

your DD goals are easily achieveable with the SR20. if you wanna hunt exotics, inline six is the only option. even 2JZ is a good choice imho.you want AWD? go RB and spend the $ to do it the way japan should've.

i did an STi swap into an old L sedan. 2600# with 300+ AWHP is more than enough to scare the 911 turbo down the street from me

and inline 6 turbo power in a car that can be made lighter than that is THE way to go. i will be doing that in a couple of months. i just can't swallow the price difference for the R34 that i crave vs. a R32-33 setup. i plan on utilizing Attess-ets AWD, unlike project R14. that was the only gay part, but its still full time AWD(mechanically w/o comp assistance) which is a good start!

welcome to the forums.....

i thought the R14 project has fully implemented the ATTESSA system, what did they change or not use?

iirc they left it unhooked, and used the AWD mechanicals still. they used an R32-33 because of cost(which is smart) and it being the same basic package as R34 variants. so full time AWD just no computer aided help to go with it. the earlier attessa is crap as far as considering/expecting AWD(evo or STi) type performance w/o heavy oversteer. but if you like 240's you're probably fine with it.

i have owned 6 identical 91 240sx Le(leather, loaded, no hicas tho) and love them to death. and i found a clean 92 to build as my skyline swap( i know, it's got crappy cams and no leather!)

but i did swap a JDM STi into my old 95 L impreza. it was a rocket by any standards(300+AWD HP with only 2600# to push) and would walk most any swapped 240(besides an AWD RB26 swap im sure). the inline 6 is the key to the perfect swapped exotic killer. having had AWD supercar killers and RWD rockets, im stuck on AWD. i do live in ohio and use it thru the winter. my stock 240s kinda sucked unless i had knobby truck tires on it.

but the R34 is supposed to be the cats ***. i really want a ride in one before i swap, but theres no plan on a trip to japan anytime soon. it will be interesting and fun nonetheless. after that i will do another subaru(either EZ30/EZ30R) swap, but with a boxer 6 w/6 spd. to mimic a porsche(and im even gonna use a VNT from a new cayman/etc!).

that will be my new DD project after the 240sx is done!

i was even thinking about a 4x4 240sx. since they use the truck transmission and drivetrain, i was looking a the 4x4 trans and where the axles pop out of the side in realtion to the front hubs of the 240. it would be kinda cool to have a full time 4x4/AWD 240sx built solely from usdm bound parts! i even contemplated a newer 6cyl engine from a frontier rather than VQ for uniqueness.

sorry for the OT, afaik attessa was deleted/unused
