Two years ago before I did the LS1 swap I looked into the possibility of doing a RB25 into my Z32. I did some measuring (since a friend had a RB 25 motor in his shop) and found that the swap just didn’t make sense. What I mean with sense is workability. You see the LS1 is easy to work on; change the plugs in 30 min, change clutch in 1.5 hours, change cam in 4 hours, and parts are easy to get. When I looked at the RB it didn’t look that good. Yea Plugs are easy to get to, intake side and exhaust side is nice since it’s a I6 but the serpentine belt would have ended up in the nose panel witch would have meant take the bumper off every time you need to do anything to the front of the motor. You can go the other way and move the motor further back but then the transmission will end up in-between the seats and since the car is not as wide as a Hummer that meant extremely uncomfortable and hot under racing condition. At that point the exhaust would go under the driver which would mean the car would sit extremely high. I’m not saying that it is impossible to do the swap, I’m just saying you have to think about the small things because its not going to be easy. Not only that but if its going to be a daily I hope you got some spare RB parts lying around because if a water pump goes you going to have to wait for a wile…
