I just bought an Rb25det and am pulling it apart to replace seals and do minor maintenance. Today I pulled apart the turbo, i noticed a small pool of oil in the inlet and outlet housings. The motor was sitting on its side when I went to pick it up from the original owner. Is this normal or does my turbo need a rebuild. Thanks for your input.

Not enough info. Oil could be from anywhere, but it would make me suspicious. Does it have any shaft play?

No, no shaft play. the motor has been sitting on its side for about 2 months. I am going to pull the turbo apart this weekend and have a closer look. Shaft spins freely with no movement.

well it doesnt get rebuilt due to it being ball bearing.

but when i picked up my rb it had a pool also.all i did was take it apart and clean all the carbon build up from the inside and i put it all together and about 6 months later i check my intercooler piping and its clean as a wistle.

that was my situation though
