RB is running smooth. It's like gliding through air The only problem is that when I start it up, it makes some weird high pitch noise. I know its not the started because I changed it about a week ago. People have told me it does not hurt the engine but its just the noise that I wish would go away. Anyways, here is a video of what it sounds like.

Ah yeah I've heard that before as well. Hmm...gonna have to check on that then. Any other ideas on what it could be? Just want to make sure before I go spend money that I don't have

Oh yea did you check the teeth on your fliy wheel? Your flywheel could be warped alil? it could also been your starter you could take it to autozone to let them test it(its free) so yea id do the starter test first tho so u dont go and waste money on something that wasnt broken..good luck

Im not gonna say that your starter is broke, but mine made the same noise when the aluminum housing was cracked at the end of the starter. When i would go to crank it the housing would seperate and it would throw the bendix off center. Replaced the starter and the noise was gone. That was my issue and may not be yours, it is worth looking at tho.

Ah i see. Ok i gotta check the flywheel then and for sure I'll take the starter to autozone and see if they can find a problem with it. Thanks for all the help guys. Really appreciate it.

if you can find a shop the rebuilds starters and alternators, i would go with them instead of autozone or parts stores of the like. ive had too many bad alternators they thought were fine which led to unnecessary money being spent only to have a real shop tell me they were bad.

Thats makes sense since they specialize in those parts. I know what you mean about the unnecessary money spending. Happened to me recently LOL

Could this problem also be caused by bad spark plugs?

it sounds like a timing belt at 7 to 8 seconds into the video.

Hmm...

I'll keep on searching other possibilities and try to pin point where the sound is coming from. Really want to know whats causing this and replace. Any other ideas? Thanks for all the help guys!

Did you torque your flywheel correctly? Sounds like an improper gear mesh.

It sounds like the starter could be the problem like they said, the bendix may not be disengaging fast enough.

it sounds nothing like a damn loose flywheel bolts..

i have had that happen to me beforre and they are a lot louder, plus they dont sound like rubber either.

This is why it could be a timing belt or something into 7 or 8 seconds in the videol.

also my rb20det my timing belt made that noise when i first replaced it didn't have it tension right at first.

The best thing to do is to take another video with the hood open and the camera on the engine

I will record another video tomorrow morning. Hopefully its the timing belt. I'll probably buy one if thats the case and just replace. Standby guys.
