Hey guys, finally coming to grips with my situation and realizing that I will have to pull the head off again and pull apart the entire valvetrain to see why I have no compression in cyl #3. I would like to take the opportunity to put in some new lifters since the problem may have been caused by a dead or damaged lifter that lead to the intake valve(s) getting stuck and likely being bent by the piston. Of course, I'm also in the market for replacement valves but I'm not looking to break the bank and go straight to ferrea (sp?) or Race Engineering valves although they are readily available. If I were to just replace the one or two damaged valves with the aftermarket ones, will this cause problems or is it even possible?

Anyone know if any z32 or other USDM parts cross reference to these parts? Can I reuse the old valve springs and retainers if I swap in new lifters or will I be forced to change them as well?

I have searched a bit and have not come up with any answers as of yet so any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

I'm surprise I didn't know this but Z32 lifters, retainers and valve collets are the same P/N as RB25's..

Always visually verify it's the same before you buy though.

Oh man, thanks so much! That's great news! I suspect that the valves will likely be the same too since so much of the rest of the valvetrain seems to be shared. My current plan is to pull the head off, inspect it, remove my $$$ Poncams, cam gears, cam caps, and other essential parts and then send it out to a reputable MACHINE shop and have the valves inspected and ground, the head checked for warpage (since that SOB Mark from SpeedLab probably lied when he told me it was true after it was planed) and then put the head back together. I'm hoping to have all of this done before the New Year but time is tight.

Thanks again, "eh?"!!

Nope valves are different..

About the lifters: make sure the bores they sit in are in good condition. From what I remember it is easy to drop them in only to have the lifter get stuck offset. It's possible that happened and while the person was torquing the cam caps down that stuck lifter wouldn't budge and eventually snapped the cam.
