Alright,

I have finally began re-assembling my RB and got stuck when attempting to install the timing belt. Of the 50+ labeled bags, I seem to have mis-placed the bolt for the idler. I used a tap + machinist rule to measure what I think the bolt should be and I got M9 x 1.25 x 80mm. Can anyone confirm this or give a replacement part number? Would a Z31 replacement bolt work? Are they the same since the tensioner is? I tried going through FAST and could not find the idler listed and also went through the FSM and it just gave the torque specifications.

I tried a few parts suppliers local (Ace, Fastenal) and even McMaster-Carr. Nobody carries M9 (9mm) bolts! If I cannot find a suitable replacement, I am going to tap it out to M10 ( along with the bearing itself) and go that direction, but I would rather not, if I didn't have to. (of course!) What also concerns me is that I cannot find the original idler OR the bolt.

Thanks in advance,l0nestar.

should either be m8 or m10... most likely m10 if it has a 14mm or 17mm head.

Oddly enough, the M10x1.50 tap started in! I think I may have modified the threading and cut it partially to match the M9x1.25 threading though.. but I will see what I can do!

McMaster-Carr does carry them (packs of 10 ) but I can easily go back to Lowes or Ace and check out their selection again for M10. Thanks for having me re-examine it!

lowes will have what your looking for. Make sure if you finish tapping it that the bolt slides through the idler... otherwise might be in a world of trouble.

Shocker,

Yes, I checked that the Tap would slide through. It should work, but I am going to take the idler itself with me just to be sure. That and get a washer that fits inside of the recessed area of the tensioner.

Or to make things easier, I can send you the bolt and washer.

I will keep this in mind, but Lowes is about 5 minutes from my home. Do you happen to know (or have the ability) to verify dimensions of the bolt Stealth-Z?

From Lowes PN: 214487 - M10-1.50x75mm Hex Cap Screw, 17mm Head, Grade 8.8 - $1.70PN: 138377 - M10 washer - $0.68

The bolt fits perfectly with just a few threads before it bottoms out. Just to let everyone know.
