Ok so im finishing up wiring up my s14 for a rb25 and have a few plugs that I wasnt sure where they went. after some research i found out where they went but it left me with more questions lol

First is a blue plug that appears to go into the Air Regulator valve for cold start (which I dont appear to have)
The second is a purple plug that I believe goes to the IAC, which the plug on the IAC that it connects to is broke off . There is another plug that goes into the IAC which is brown and that one I have plugged up.

From my understanding the cold start air regulator valve is solely for helping adjust the idle while the engine warms up. And the IAC adjusts the idle speed when the a/c comes on or when the power steering senses full lock.

Basically I want to know if i should worry about it not having these hooked up or if i should start sourcing these parts. I live in florida so I feel that the air regulator isnt necessary. but the IAC seems to be something that some people skip over anyways. I plan on running a/c eventually but at this moment i only want to get the car running and work out any bugs it may have (i still have to tune my aem ems)

what does the brown plug do for the IAC vs the purple?
the purple nub where the purple connector used to be on the IAC has remnants of the 2 terminals showing Im wondering if I could just solder some wire to it.

any help is appreciated. I have some pics if needed. thanks

+1

I built a block off plate for now on the Rbambler, but will go back and try to make it work later. The more info the merrier.

Air regulator valve is all I need then? Im not gonna run A/C or power steering so does this mean I dont need the IAC? I guess which one of the 3 plugs on the whole unit do I need to worry about?

You don't need the part of the regulator that is there to keep the idle high during warmup. Foot on the gas can do that for you. I would definitely keep the IAC it also keeps the motor from dying when you lift off the throttle quickly. My IAC doesn't work correctly and it sucks IMO.

One plug is for the IAC and one plug is for the solenoid that raises the idle when the A/C gets turned on etc.. I want to say the blue one is the one you don't need. The solenoid for the A/C looks long and hex shaped if memory serves.

The blue one is for the air regulator which like he said is for idle control during warm up, ive decided im not going to worry about that it should be alright with out it living in florida.

The IAC has the purple and brown plug, the brown is for auxiliary air control and the purple is for the fast idle, as far as I can tell if your not running a/c then you dont need the purple side of it. i do plan on using a/c eventually but the beauty of it is that you can replace just that solenoid.

heres where i found the info broken-iaa-sensor-t239759.html

it makes sense for the most part but what i dont understand is why would the auxiliary air control unit NOT be for the a/c.

from what you said 240z4u the IAC helps keep the motor off when lifting off heavy throttle quickly? i wonder if that would be what the fast idle is for. meh i dunno

Fast idle raises idle when you are under high load situations from accessories such as a/c compressor coming on. Keeps the motor from being dragged down to the point where it will die.

ah ok so then that is right. either way the purple is for a/c and powersteering. brown for auxiliary air control and the blue for air regulator
