Anyone know what shops might have one in stock for a series 1 motor? I put a WTB post up in the thread above and have called JGY and Venus with no luck. (venus said they had one then today said he didnt have the tools to take the head off or something). So if anyone can help a fellow RB owner out that would be sweet.

I need the whole head. Mine is warped unfortunatly. I could get by with just a bare head but wouldn't mind getting a complete one.

Yes, I took it in to resurface (bare, no cams) and they did that but said it was in pretty bad shape and to put the cams back in to see if they spin freely and intake side seemed ok, but the exhaust side didnt when I torqued everything down.

Not sure which machine shop you used. But one Im Local too that gets all my work. Usually can fix a Worped head. But that sounds pretty bad. If you can't find a head might have to try getting it fixed. But are you 100% sure the cam is straight? Might have the shop check it just to be double sure.

Oh I didnt realize something like that could be fixed. (sorry, my knowledge about the head and internals in limited) But I am pretty sure the cam is straight but I did put the exhaust cam over there (the little pieces that sit on valves werent in there) and that cam did the same thing.

If there knowledgeable at all they should be able to fix it. But if they don't wanna mess with it they might tell you they can't. But you should call and ask them. And have them put a mic on it to check the cam caps and make sure you don't have a cap causing it not to spin. It would take ALOT of heat to worpe that head that bad. Im talking over 300 degrees for a long period of time.

Well I had some issues last year with a freeze plug that blew out. Had it towed home. Then found a rubber expanding replacement (bad idea) which blew out...or fell out a couple months later. And I had to drive it a little ways with low coolent (block and pistons are fine) Wasnt the best idea i know but I was kinda stuck on what to do unfortunatly.

Ya im with Shocker. If there was that much heat in that motor. I can almost Guarantee those crank and Rod bearings are torched. You better pull the pan and take a look. I almost bet your going to find the bearings with a blue tint.

Before you waste any more money. Take the time to pull the motor apart and fully examine every part. Otherwise your going to have serious problems thats going to cause you alot more money and headache.

As far as me and a few buddies can tell the bottom end is fine...but it is coming apart anyway to inspect closer. And no I didnt ask for a number, he just told me it was in pretty bad shape and to do that check when I got home.

But if for some reason the head isnt warped what could cause the cam on that side not to spin at all. (like i said its not the cam we put another in and still same result)

Well I did take the oil pan off yesterday and inspected the bearings. One had a hint of blue in it, so I am replacing them all (i had some ACL ones anyway) So who knows.

So if anyone has a suggestion on a place to try for a head or anyone that has one let me know. Thanks.

Glad to see you took the pan off and looked. You will be happy with the ACL bearings. I am with mine so far.

Another head is going to be pricey. Thats why I suggested possibly fixing the one you have, if you don't have the cash.

Yea I am glad I looked too. And I have the money, just didnt want to spend it if I didnt have to. But I got that one off ebay for 400 shipped so it wasnt terrible I guess. Oh well just need to get my oil pump, and timing belt stuff ordered and I get this beast put back together.

Sweet, Sounds like it going to come together for ya again. I try to save all the money I can also, But you will sleep better at night knowing you have a nice fresh bottom end and the supporting mods like timing belt for insurance. Let us know how it goes.
