i just got a freddy intake manifold for my rb25well in the box the water neck wasnt pressed in, it was separate.when i went to press it in it was loose.. like it falls right in..has anyone else has this issue?and how would i go about getting this to work? what im thinking im going to have to do is get a barb fitting and have it tapped.. or welding something on that is the same diameter

heres a picture of the manifold i got

as you can see the water neck is just chillin out there

and please dont start with the "you should have bought a greddy"i pretty much for this manifold for free

take it to a fabricator and have a neck welded on

p.s. should have gotten a real one. just because its free doesnt mean you should use it. you are having problems and it isnt even installed yet.

Theres nothing wrong with Freddy manifolds, I have one, and had the same issue. I ust laid a good amount of RTV inside the water neck hole, stuck the thing into the hole, and when the RTV dried, it sealed it right up. Never had one drop of a leak in over 7 months.

Running a Freddy Manifold for 2 years, got it for 1/3rd the cost of a Greddy. Had the same problem of the water neck being loose, and had my guy just weld it on. No problems thus far. You're better having it welded anyway, rather than just pressed on, if that's how the legit manifold works.

I'll spend extra where I have to, but if I can save some money without cutting too many corners, I'll gladly do it. I figure that's extra money that can go towards injectors, turbo... whatever needs real money thrown at.

There is some high temp JB Weld or something similar i cant remember the exact name but advance auto has stuff. Just make sure you scuff up the inside of the manifold with some sand paper and also do the water neck part that will be inside the manifold hole so it is rough enough for the RVT substance to grab onto. and i would make sure some rvt also flows around the little ring i see on that water neck on the outside just a little so it helps hold the neck from pulling out. There is not crazy pressure in the cooling system and the temps should never get close to being hot enough to break down a good high temp product. My opinion: the mani you got will work fine! Not everyone has the $ to buy a greddy. Not everyone cares about a sticker on a product. Name brands are not always what they are made out to be either. I think 75% of products are way overpriced. I always like to refer to Exhaust Systems as a good example of this. If a no name $150 ebay stainless 3" exhaust makes 2 hp less and weighs 5lb more, is it really worth $700 more dollars that you would have spent on a titanium big name brand? If you got the money to blow i guess go for it but that is 700 bucks toward something else you might want. Just be careful buying cheap stuff thats all.
