Does anyone know if the RB25 flywheel is interchangeable with a VG30DE?

Thanks,Marshall

The bolt pattern to mate the flywheel to the crank is different.

RB's use a special 6-bolt pattern, which is different than that of the VG.

There are 6 bolts on an RB crankThere are 8 bolts on a Z32 crank

You can however, use an NA Z32 clutch on an RB flywheel

Thanks for the clarification Andy! I could not remember the exact configuration on the VG30, just that they were very visibly different and not compatible.

Well damn, can't remember where this flywheel came from then. Must be off a truck KA, it's a 6 bolt 240mm. Anyways, the reason I'm asking is because I've been having clutch engagement issues with my RB26 w/ RB25 trans. I originally had a OS triple disc for the engine, when that went bad I decided to go with a less aggressive clutch which meant I needed to find a flywheel. That's when I picked up the flywheel I'm using now. I'm leaning towards the problem being either the throwout bearing or TOB sleeve, but I figured I'd check the flywheel as well. It's kind of an f'd up combination, RB26 with 25 trans, KA truck flywheel, Z33 pressure plate & TOB, NA Z32 disc...

Thanks for the help, Marshall

are you still using the TOB from your Triple plate? If so there lies your problem.

nope, using a new TOB, but didn't change the sleeve. I got the new RB25 sleeve in the mail the other day, it looks very similar to what is in there now though (not that I paid a great deal of attention to it). But, I found that it's about 0.5" shorter than a Z32 sleeve which I may try to put in there to correct the mis-allignment <-- had to add about 3/4" of length to the slave cyl rod to get the clutch to disengage...

bumping this back up

I was told today that you cannot re-use flywheel bolts, or you shouldn't. Is this true? and if so, are the VG30DE bolts the same ones on the RB25?

not the same, but the hardbody D21 flywheel will.
