Yeah i already searched and didnt find what i was lookin for. Im havin an rb25 dropped in a s14. The ka24 is out and im curious as to what part of the firewall needs to be banged in and how far? Im curious cuz i want to bang the firewall in then have the engine bay painted. Wouldnt be too pretty if i banged the firewall in with a fresh coat of paint. Im using top hat mounts also.

I had to hammer mine in the following locations:

9:30 to 10 o'clock and a little at the 3 o'clock position.

I looked for a picture to circle and post but found none on this computer. Its hard to explain so work with me here lol but basically the issue is the starter and bell housing hit the beginnings of the transmission tunnel/firewall almost at the bottum of the floor pan .... hard to explain I'll try to get some pics up if no one beats me to it.

*mine just needed a 1.5 inch dent where the starter would hit on the passenger side. I hear some need "adjustment" on both drive and passenger sides of the tunnel/firewall

I have top hats also, and pounded out the same areas as Darius.

But make sure you are generous. I only dented it up a little the first time and it wasn't enough. The second time I made sure there was plenty of room around the whole bell housing. Especialy near the starter (9:30 to 10 o'clock) and the my car needed a good amount of room on the oppsite side too. Better safe then sorry, aka your trans driving into your car

ALSO! I almost forgot! I had to dent part of the tail area of the trans tunnel, so the VSS would clear. There is a mounting surface back there, you'll probably see what I mean when you get under there. Just thought I'd throw that out there so you would have a heads up.

Done!

I ended up pounding the upper left corner and bottom edge of my heat shield in a touch too.

That's why some of us have bigger forearms than others...errr maybe it's another reason.
