Just out of curiousity, lets say one of the wires was torn out of the ECU before you got it. Can you get one of the little metal contacts to get the wire back in there. The wire that is missing is the signal to the tach. Thanks

Yea kinda wierd its the only one that is missing. I tripple checked to make sure I was looking at the right spot and I am.

So I just need to find one of those little metal contacts at radio shack? I figured it would be simple but ya never know. haha

If the wire was pulled out, the metal piece should still be in the harness plug. Just open the plastic flap on the wire side of the harness plug and push the metal piece out the back side with a small screwdriver or something.

See the weird thing is there is no metal piece in there and i cant find the wire anywhere. I believe the tach wire from the ECU is #7 and is supposed to be Yellow/Lavender (according to my sources) I see a different Yellow/Lavender thats not in #7.

That is weird that you don't have a metal piece in the #7 location. Not to belittle you or anything, but are you sure you're reading the wiring diagram for the harness plug correctly (i.e. not backwards)? The tach wire is Y/L (yellow/blue) the fourth pin to the right of the harness bolt on the top row.

The yellow/"lavender" is actually the Y/PU (yellow/purple) "AG04" wire for the check signal on diagnostics.

Oh ya i have checked like 5times now to make sure i am looking at the right wire. And its supposed to be Yellow/Blue....thanks for that info though, the sheet I had said it was Yellow/Lavender and had a disclaimer saying there were 2 of those color wires.

Post a pic of the ecu and the part number/code on it. Someone might be able to run it through FAST for you to verify it is the correct ecu for that motor.

Ok I do have that Yellow Blue wire in the spot you described. Thanks.

are you going to use the skyline gauge cluster or 240? If 240 how are you modifying the tach signal?

I am using the 240 cluster. A buddy of mine soldered on a resistor and it was pretty close, so he is gonna help me with that.

I got a tach signal modifier from dakota digital and it was a cinch to install (literally 15 minutes start to finish) and works perfectly. Costs a little more than a resistor, but I am more comfortable with it being accurate throughout the rev range.
