I was wondering how much reliable boost the stock internal can take? and whats the best bottom end build for the most boost yet remain reliable? looking for answers based on real world exp

Every thing ive read has differing opinions and threads turn into a "millenium falcon is way faster than the enterprise" argument. So im looking to see what people are really running and for how long it has remained reliable. This wont be for a DD or a track car ... just a weekend car build with the most potential.... i kinda want it to scare me but not have to worry too much beyond regular maintenance

Reliable boost on what turbine? I know personally, a stock bottom end can hold 530hp, with a stock head and factory head gasket.

i wish it was that simple. there is no set number. anything over 450whp is a crap shoot as to when it will let go

its all in the tuning, and the turbo.

I'm around the same kinda numbers FearsomeTea is hitting on a stock motor. We can get another RB25 for $300 though, so we aren't afraid to break them. We've both been doing that kind of power level for more than a year though, so take that for what it's worth.

Like Kamin said, it's all in the tune (FT and I both get tuned by the same guy, but FT beats the **** outa his motor )

I personally know of a buddy who was making 500 rwhp on a bone stock long block.

He ran it that way for a year or so before he got greedy with laughing gas.

My knowledge base on internals is medicore at best (sorry for the lameness.) Since i will be dumping a lot of money into this car im trying to get an idea of what I can do to make it reliable. I want mid 10s but im not sure mid 10s would be possible while remaining reliable since ive only seen rb25dets in pictures and videos and never had any real world exp with them. Again i apologize for my lack of knowledge and wondered what kind of engine prep can be done before the install to ensure a solid engine (rods / pistons ?)

On a side note what kind of reasonable HP can be seen from an RB25 all motor ? reasonable meaning everyday driving.

about anything over 450 like Kamin said, then you'll spin a bearing or something like that...

O boy that makes me feel relieved lol. Not trying to hijack or anything but what would be the favorite picks for pistons/rods around the board for the rb25?

^^Don't mean to scare you but it happened to me, I'm rebuilding my bottom end now with CP Pistons 86.5mm, Eagle H Beam Con Rods, ACL Bearings and ARP Studs. Maybe a N1 Water pump. Oh! and make sure if you are going to rebuild the bottom to get a JUN Crank Collar, for safe measures
